Officially dug out today - Geesh! Oh, my, what a mess! finally seeing the light of day - beautiful sunshine gleaming over the snow - but, oh it's enough to put your eye out isn't it?

Maybe we'll be spared on Wednesday. I'm cookin up some good stuff for the game, but wanted to check in on everyone.

And for today I'm rooting for......Go N.O!

Well now, we have 24 inches at the moment, and it's s'posed to snow till 10 tonight. Yikes. We have a service that plows the roads and clears the sidewalks (what sidewalks?), but our cars are our own problem.

Since the roads are not safe to drive on (even if we could move), this is turning into a good day to snooze. I hereby declare my neck of the woods 'CLOSED.'

Mistylee, I'm just gonna guess you mean 25 Celsius, not Farenheit.  Let's see: 25 x 1.8 = 45, add 32 to get 77 degrees Farenheit.  Yep, we could stand that here about now.  I think our high today was predicted to be 25 F, or about -4 C.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to correct my conversion; this is using memories left over from 9th Grade science class.  Early 1970s, in other words.

It is flooding here...yuk...my backyard is standing 2 ins deep in water and the creeks are rushing and flooding the roads.

Snow to come after midnight with 1 to 3...much less than last time :p)

For those of you in the path of this storm, stay inside, stay warm, stay safe and eat cheese!

You guys are so lucky you don't have to deal with this snow.  Poor me, Ess, Heather and all the others in the Atlantic Region are enjoying the beuty of it looking out the window, but when all is over, it is going to be a mess to clean up.

DH is overseas watching the news and did try to call us a few times today.   Keep missing those calls.  :(

Lu, you are exactly right.  The neighbor kids will love to earn some good money for shoveling on Sunday.  I'll heed your advice about steering clear of any shoveling.

Keep fingers crossed for us that we don't lose our electricity as the power lines are looking a little precarious.

Please don't even consider shoveling that snow.  That is what neighborhood children are for.  Make a phone call or two and round up a few to dig you out.  They can be bought with $$$ is bribes of food are not enough.

DH must be seeing this on the news and worried about you too.

Its good to read you got the message about cheese - you can never eat enough!

Enjoy that ala mode - you deserve every bite of goodness.

be well, stay warm and safe,
Lulu

The neighbors on my street "Sleepy Hollow Neighborhood Assoc." is having a chili cook-off Blizzard Party as I write this.  Streets are at least 4 incheds deep right now and people walking up kids having a good time outside.

That's what my neighbors are doing.  As for me, I am having cheese with crackers and a glass of red zinfandel.  Later it will be a piece of apple pie ala mode.

I am already tired of watching the continuous coverage of the "Snowstorm of the Centruy" coverage on all the local channels.

Wishing my DH were here to help with the shoveling tomorrow. :(

Took Tim to the church a block away; he's leaving for two nights at a Boy Scout camp -- northward.  Shifted into 4WD as soon as we got out of the driveway.  It's piling up out there.

AOL's calling it "snowmageddon".  Stay safe and warm, everyone.

OK, I got the whole wheat hotdog buns, some whole wheat/low carb/high protein/high fiber tortillas, lots of veggies.  The hotdogs are Oscar Meyer, something like 98% fat free, and surprisingly good.  Or, maybe I've just adjusted my tastes.  Of course, with pizza sauce, cheese, onions and olives, who cares what the hot dog tastes like, lol!

Oh oh, forgot the tortilla chips (guiltless gourmet blue corn baked chips) and frozen yogurt, better zip back out through the sunshine and pick some up.

I sent my event monitor (heart) back today.  I'm finding that having taken a whole Provigil today is causing more sinus tachycardia, so I suppose I shouldn't take it too often. My PCP's office called and said that my first few strips from it just showed sinus tach, which didn't sound like they thought it was anything serious.

So, I'm wearing read today, a nice shirt and some earrings I made.  At least the Provigil encouraged me to get lots more exercise than I have been getting.

I wish I still had some of the cheddar with cranberries in it that I got around Christmas; it was amazing.  It took a grilled cheese sandwich to new heights.

I spoke too soon, of course.  The ground's covered here now.

Going to the fridge to look for cheese.  Back soon.

Cheese?  Of course there will be cheese, and lots of it.  Doesn't everything taste better with cheese?

What better way to celebrate heart health awareness  than eating junk food and lots of cheese?

I'm kidding of course- we rarely eat junk food, but the cheese is a different story.

my best,
Lulu

Since watching oprah yesterday I'm scared of comfort food!  At least I have a much better understanding of how serious diabetes is, and the hsvoc it wreaks on your insides and how best to prevent it.  Wow sorry to be such a downer on your fun post!  On the bright side it is mild and sunny here in the far north!

It's started here and there's the usual run on the supermarkets. We could get up to 24 inches :o(   I don't care if I never see another snowflake, but since I can't do anything about it, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Have loads of food, a little wine, so bring it on.

Shell, I hope you're on your way home. That's a long drive.

Great question, Shell.

You know they call it "healthy," which is the wrong word in the first place; they should say "healthful."  Healthy is what we're all trying to be.  If a chicken was healthy, it would still have feathers.

Thanking God for Vytorin.

About an hour ago, the Columbus TV weather guy said they have 2.5 inches already.  He's 50 miles south of us.  We've yet to see a flake, and it's 36 degrees here.  Big white swath on the radar screens all along I-70 through Ohio, but the northern fringe of it just gets into our county.  That won't stop me from eating.  We went out for a good dinner last night (I got paid for a little consulting job) then hit the grocery store (which was jammed).

Y'know, over here in Portland OR we're just having some rain and fairly mild temperatures; the snowdrops and some crocuses are blooming; don't hate us!

I have some hotdogs (reduced fat).  I'll pick up some buns, and we'll have them with pizza sauce, sweet onions, olives, and Italian cheese blend, maybe some tortilla chips on the side.  Another thought I had was making a pot of chili (w/ ground turkey breast), then put it in a casserole dish and bake it with corn bread on top.

I'm not into football, but my roommate will have it on, so I think superbowl foods are in order.  I always like low fat frozen yogurt for dessert, and lately my roommate has started enjoying my flavor, so I'd better pick up an extra pint or three (they're on sale!)

We'll need energy for the work we need to do around her house this weekend, so I'd better think of some other stuff to stock up on!  I was thinking of making spaghetti and meatballs, so I should get some salad fixings to go with, as well as some fresh parsley. Oh, and celery for the sauce.  Maybe I'll open a jar of sauce. :o)

Or, another quick and easy meal would be burritos.  Hmm, so many ideas!
