OT. had surgery today

My infusion port started acting up again. First I spent 5 hours for them to unclog it two Friday's ago. That did not work. Then I had an appointment to do a radiology study last Friday. I got there and they said was the wrong clinic. I had to go to another clinic today and possibly replace it. I was hoping they would just unclog it. They could not so I had to have surgery.

It took 2 hours and I was awake. It was not painful I just wanted it to stop. They were threading plastic tubing through me. Also this week I had this lump in my neck which kept doubling in size. I called the doctor. I thought it was a lymph node. The surgeon wanted to ignore it since it would up set his surgery. It turned out to be a blood clot from them using the port on Friday for chemo. There was a kink in the line so when they put the chemo in it had no where to go so a blood clot formed.. Both of my shoulders are bandaged and sore. One where the old port was and the other where the new one is in. I hope this one lasts more than two years.

I used all my tools. Last night I distracted myself so I would not worry about the unknowns. I walked the dogs and watched Casablanca. When they were doing things I hate like drawing blood from my hand and putting the IV in my hand I thought of my trip to Europe. I thought of watching the White Stallions dance around the riding arena. I told myself the process is time limited. I had to get through two hours. I had my husband there to speak up for my concerns which was great. I was not alone.I let the nurses know I just hate hospitals but have no choices these days. I was polite but not perky. I also thought about my friends here.
