Poll to improve polls!

Hi Gang, I asked Medhelp about improving the polll function so that it will allow for multiple responses, not just one.  See my question and their response below.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/716053?personal_page_id=6257&post_id=post_3789434

This came up as a result of the poll I did the other day asking which risk factors for MS.  Since these are of course multiple, I wanted the poll to collect multiple answers from each respondent, however we could only choose one, which of course ends up in skewed results.  Thanks for writing out your answers to the question.  In future it would be nice if the application would do that for us.

***NOTE:  I just mistakenly posted this poll on in the Suggestions forum.  I am re-posting it here so you don't miss it.  Please vote only once, either here or on the Suggestions forum.  It will be interesting to see what members outside the MS forum think, if any of them bother to vote.***

POLL QUESTION:  Would you like Medhelp to design a poll that would allow for multiple responses?

This is a good idea. I think the ability to choose multiple options would help with a lot of polls. Likert scales, like Ess suggests, or the ability to rank options in some way would be helpful in some situations.

I'd like that feature a lot. But it's true that a poll involves voting, which usually means only one. What we want is more of a survey, or even Likert scales where we could rate how strongly we feel about a given issue.

If we had a really big response, it could be run through SPSS or SAS (although that would involve tedious keying, since there's no way to automate that process here). But for a relatively small sampling, it shouldn't be a lot of work to do some quicko data analysis.

One of the key advantages of this type of web site is to utilize polls, but it cannot be effective w/o multiple responses. Other newsgroups always seem to allow multiple responses and are a bit more user friendly.
