Question about my repeat mri

Hi everyone,

I was just wondering, when I had my repeat mri the other day, they never put the thing on my head for the brain mri.

I was in the tube for almost an hour and he did the brain and cervical spine without the helmet.

I was just wondering if anyone knew why they did not use it, as the other 3 times I have had mri, in another hospital they have always used it.

The only difference was this place was a public hospital, so maybe they don't bother using one at all?????????

I'm really not sure, when I got on the bed, I asked if I could get a mask, and he just put a bit of material over my eyes, and then put earphones over my head, and tucked something near both ears to keep my head still he said.........

When they were taking the pics I could actually feel a vibration go through my whole body........

Very weird...

Hi,
I thought the purpose of the helmet apparatus was that the helmet was actually a coil used to achieve the correct radio-frequency that best corrolates with the MRI equipment used in the study.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this information.

Melissa,
I believe what you are referring to as the helmet is the contraption that is used to cradle our heads and keep it still for imaging.  You definitely have to keep still for the images to be clear and the get the right distance between slices.

Hopefully your pictures are good.

be well,
Lulu
