I was just going to suggest the tricycle. Ice cream & chocolate sound like a vital part of the recovery process, though. One step at a time, even if you have to repeat a step. Or two.
Going out for lunch. Peace.
Thank you everyone for your really kind words of support.
I did go to the A&E, they kept me there for over 8 hours, as I had banged my head, so they did a CT scan, and all was clear - but they wanted me in for observation.
William (DH) did come out with a classic comment though I must say..... He said
"How the heck can you hope to ride your bike, when you can't even WALK in a straight line :)) " It was a good point I must say, and made me laugh.
So I am bandaged up, sore and bruised, but I WILL have another go, not just yet, maybe I need a tricycle :))))
Thanks friends, your the best, and your right I shouldn't be embarassed, it's just from a serious off-roader 18mths ago - to doing a 'face plant' is just not like me at all - William did say I looked elegant in the middle of the road though, I hadn't forgotten 'how' to fall of properly :)))))
Hugs and love,
Debs xxxxx (who's now heading for the fridge for that ice cream and chocolate,)
Just to add my support..I am soooooooooo sorry to hear that you fell off your bike,,,,,I imagine that it reminds you of being like a child and falling off and none of us wants to feel like this. Well you know what they say...when you are better get back on it and try again but in the meantime rest up and let your sore body and wounds heal.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and I find chocolate makes me feel better.
Love Sarah :) xxxxxxxx
Go and get checked out please.
There is no shame as Ren says, I have not been able to get on a bike for years due to balance issues. I have astatic bike and have positioned next to heavy furniture so that I can hang onto it to exercise as walking (weight bearing) is so painful.
You are doing remarkably well in view of what you have been going through, but please go and get yourself looked after and let us know how you are doing.
(((hugs)))

Sending you wishes for a speedy recovery. And many boxes of bandaids. And ice cream. :)
Hey Debs,
I hope your not bleeding too badly!! It might be better going to the ER anyway, just to get it all cleaned properly, also sometimes the focus is on the blood when there could be something else but not as visual. You might end up black and blue tomorrow, hope not!
I do understand, ashamed wouldnt be my first choice of words to describe the feeling, not sure there is a word to describe it adequately. I know i've just been lucky so far, none of my falls have ended up with me at emergency, my hardest falls have all ended with me in a lake or river, it softens the impact though the logs and side of the boat wasnt so soft lol.
Let us know how your doing, oh if you really do enjoy bike riding and want to continue, it might be worth while checking out recumbent's, my brother loves his over his.
Cheers.......JJ
Debs,
Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope nothing was serious. And thnk you for posting about this. Every once in a while I start thinking about getting a motorcycle. This reinforces the reason I should not get one.
Dennis
sure hope William gets you to a medical place and get checked out/stitched up, then back home for some R&R.
many frineds on this list thinking about you, so hang in there. update us when you can
I hope all your injuries are minor - even the injury to your pride! I'm the opposite though; I would be glad it was husband who saw it happen and was there to help me rather than perhaps be ignored by those rushing by! It could happen! Take care of yourself!
wow - I just came in and got your message. Please make sure you really do go the hospital and get checked out. There is nothing to be ashamed of here - embarassed perhaps, but guilt is not a thing any of us should carry with having this MiSerable disease.
lots of love right back at you- L
Debs,
So sorry to hear of your accident! I hope the physical injuries are minor. As for the emotional injury, I can certainly relate. It is humiliating to injury yourself in front of family members, at least for me it's worse than in front of total strangers.
I cut myself twice and burned myself twice while doing everyday cooking and ironing. It is such a blow to the ego. But, I refuse to give in to MS. My physical therapist has told me essentially no cooking by telling me no more use of knives or getting near anything hot.
It is disheartening but I WILL find a way to get around these restrictions. As for you riding a bike, I can't even get on a bike due to balance issues, so you are one ahead of me right there.
All I can do is send huge comforting hugs your way and tell you that you are not alone in losing everyday skills. Again, I am so sorry for your accident but don't be so hard on yourself. William loves you whether you can ride your bike or not.
Gentle hugs,
Ren
