Could this be MS?

I was diagnosed in '02 with Fibromyalgia, but in the back of my mind,I've always questioned if I might actually have MS.It all started in 2000 when I nearly stumbled down steps that I'd never had a problem with before. My eyes felt strange;kinda blurry and I couldn't distinquish the red lines painted on the edges of the steps. Also at this time I kept falling asleep. When I saw my GP I could only explain the problem with my eyes as "weakness".

As time went on,I would see an opthomologist, use steroid drops for a problem with the retina.I've had exacerbations and remissions.

I have just spent the past five days sleeping, mostly in bed.My neuro started me on the muscle relaxer Tizanidine because muscle cramps were keeping me awake.I am also having trouble walking.I'd been having a headache with severe eye pain (left eye). Before the eye pain came on, I was seeing black spots in my center vision.Oh,and I feel like I'm having throat spasms and occasionally I choke on saliva.I have an appt with my neuro on the 20th.

I had an MRI of the spine last year. The results of that was 2 herniated discs, which I was already aware of.I forgot to mention that I was diagnosed with lumbar spinal stenosis in '06.I've had brain MRIs in the past that were negative for MS;but I'd never had these symptoms at those times.

Have you had an MRI - both of the brain and the spine?  That would be a very important test to request at this point. The MRI and a thorough clinical exam are both important to getting a clear idea of what is going on with you.  Good luck with this next step, Laura
