Unless there's a doc out there willing to help me, I'm done

Well, the neuro just called, he said "Good news, negative LP, you dont have MS". What an idiot. We argued, well, I did, he couldnt take it. I told him a ngative LP means nothing, he mumbled something,,,,,,who knows. I lost it  then, about the part where he told me since I was on Betaseron last year (only for about 6 mos), he said since it didnt help me then, thats more proof I dont have MS. Um, DUH, it made me feel like I had terminal flu sx! He says, the betaseron would have made me better. I said, "That statement makes no sense!" He said, "You know what, if you are going to talk down to me, then this conversation is over!" THIS from a doc who told me its ADD, based on the fact that I smoke, and have brain lesions, its ADD. ??????????Yea right.

Yep, after 6 neuros, and worsening sx over the past year, it is over. I'm done, I've no where left to turn, so, I will live like this and deal with it.

I am so mad.

Cathy

that one happy spot is just enough to get you your second wind. get a breather, regroup, and get back in the fight. this is the longest most bizarre fight i've ever been in and we feel like giving up from time to time. but our bodies keep reminding us that something isn't quite right, and when those really bad episodes hit, we know without a flicker of doubt something is wrong, really really wrong...and it isn't just a scrape & bruise.

keep on, keepin on ...

Cathy,
I just read your explanation in your previous post as to why you have seen 6 neuros and having the dx taken away ...... wow, no wonder you want to give up. What a crazy battle you have been waging.

so here's the deal - you can quit for a day or two.  But then you absolutely must get back in the ring and fight again.  This is your life and your health we are talking about.  Good for you to stand up to the doctor - I'm sure it did infuriate him to realize that you know some things about MS that he doesn't know.

Be mad - be good and mad.  And then channel that anger into some constructive use of pushing on and seeing additional doctors until you get an answer.  You may not have MS, but you definitely have something going on that you deserve to have answers.

be well,
Lulu

Stand-by Cath.  It may take some time.  But don't you quit.

Is this the Dr. who put you on Betaseron?

Can he switch you to Copax?

I'm confused, as I'm sure you are. Since you are already dx'd with MS why did this Dr. order the LP in the 1st place?  What was the (his) expected outcome?

DMDs do not make you "feel" better.

Don't you give up, Miss.  We're here for you.  Just hang in there best you can.
