Travel plans and an unexpected flare

I'm seeking some answers to a particular question and am wondering if you would provide your input.

It hypothetical, but it serves to know what people would do in case this came up for anyone.

The scenario is the following: you were fine, fit and healthy (but you're RRMS and were in remission), then you had a full-blown flare a month ago, and now you're getting better but still have a little weakness and a little balance problems and you are working on correcting that. You have a travel plan scheduled for a week from today which you're wondering whether it would be a good idea to go ahead and travel or cancel your plans. The trip will involve no physical activity as such but will involve some walking.

Do you go ahead, or do you cancel?

Would your decision change if the travel was to an exotic but third-world country?

I'm in this scenario so I'd appreciate your input.
Thanks.

I am all for travel, any time I can go I will.  The scenario you paint is an interesting one.  My impulse was to say I would go, since I was improving.  But then you threw in the 3rd world country part and that makes me change my answer, somewhat.

Can the travel plans be changed without much financial penalties?  Is there support in this country to get help if your MS has a crisis of some sort?

I have traveled overseas while in the midst of a major flare - I had no idea at that time that I had MS.  I came home, had testing done a couple weeks later, and the MRI showed active enhancing  lesions.  I dragged myself over the cobblestones of Belgium for a week and still enjoyed almost all of the trip.    Belgium has an excellent health system.

good luck with this decision - I know it won't be an easy one to make.
