MS Walk

Tomorrow is our local MS Walk. I'll be walking in it. My team didn't exactly pan out this year so I am walking with some other friends and their team, and I didn't get diddly crap for donations. When people do Relay for Life and stuff like that, they get all kinds of donations, but no one wants to donate to the MS Walk.

I'm kind of frustrated about it. It made me feel bad. I guess people figure that MS isn't "that bad" since it's not "fatal" or "terminal". Maybe because it doesn't have any cute pink accessories and the color is ORANGE. No one likes orange. Everyone loves pink!

Don't get me wrong, all of those charities are very worthy. I am involved in Guilda's Club, and Cancer fundraising. My son raised money for St. Jude's this year. I also have participated in fundraisers for varies hunger charities. I'm just frustrated that I didn't even get ONE donation, not even from family members or close friends. God to know that so many people care.

Oh well. I am still going to participate in the walk, have a good day with friends, and finish up by watching the Wings get revenge on the Blackhawks. We have baseball tickets for Sunday. I hope that it doesn't rain this weekend and that everyone has a great weekend!

I'm glad that your day turned out to be successful :-) What matters is that you took part, not how big your team was or how much money you raised.

I just wish my Rangers had as good a weekend as your Red WIngs!

I'm glad you that you had a good walk - thanks for walking.

I have somewhat of a similar experience as you each year that I do the MS Walk.  I think I've walked for 4 yrs now and no one has ever donated to me except - myself and my partner. Like you - it kind of does make me feel like know one really cares.  Especially when I have such a HUGE family.  My dad was one of 10 children & my mom one of six and they all have multiple children that are all adults.

My younger brother walked with us once and my older brother says that he's going to, but never shows up.  And since I walk slow, there's never any food left for us when we get back in to the main festivities area for lunch.  You'd think as organizers that they'd keep that in mind. It's not like I'm the last one to come back in from the Walk. They always just say every year - "Sorry, there's no food left..."

Nonetheless, we still enjoy the Walk (me, myself, and I - and my partner).

I had fun. I walked with one of my friends and one of her friends who also has MS. We goofed of and acted crazy. It was a good time. It was hot out, but not as bad as the last time that I walked.

Afterward, my son and I went to a Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Red Wings game. They won! :)  It was a good day. :)

I tell people what the MS Society does for me in my emails and that seems to help. Thanks for walking.

I'd just like to add my thanks. I'd like to thank you as your experience mirrors what will likely be my own.

When I do my first walk or run, it will likely be with just the registration fee to my name, but it will still be something I'm proud of as I'm side-lining it at the moment and only just *thinking* about doing it.

What I'm saying is, your walk is inspiring to me because you're doing it. Despite frustrations and disappointments, you're doing it. To me that's a heck of a lesson and one we can all apply to our lives when dealing with MS itself.

I'll let you know when I sign up, because I'll be thinking of you when I do.

(P.S. As someone raised in Tennessee, I can assure you there are a lot of people out there who LOVE orange. ;P )

Thanks for walking for all of us - I try to keep in mind that MS awareness is important, too. I hope the weather is perfect!
