i know of a lady that heads a vet group for MS & gulf war vets. i emailed her. whether she responds or not, can't say yet. will ask her about this and report back here if anything to report.
i remember when the VA/DOD did a huge study on the gulf war neuro symptoms. at that time, they of course said there was no connection. they did the same thing regarding agent orange too. then some groups filed lawsuits and forced new studies where the VA finally acknowledged a link.
and that is the last i heard of it.
i'll be sure and post something here when i get new info
So, Q, that makes me wonder who shut down the further investigation or did it just hit a dead end? We know people with MS don't just go away. And this is a significant increase over the general population, if the numbers can be substantiated.
With the treatment our vets already get in dealing with the VA, it almost makes me want to buy into a conspiracy theory or two. -L
What puzzles me is that when I try to research this problem, all I get are testimonial sites and scientific sites dating (like this one in the post) from 2007 and before. I would really like to see some up-to-date numbers and data. There was a flurry of interest, then not much at all.
Q :((
That is some story - once again our vets may be leading the way. But this time they may be helping to find the cause of MS. The environmental case looks pretty strong when you consider this population and the significant incidence rate of MS patients.
Thanks for posting this link.
