can spasms turn brittle?

i'm currently in limbo with "unspecified demylinating disease" waiting on the last test, VEP. i have a tendon or muscle in my neck that is hard as a rock and at times very very painful.  it doesn't seem to go away and i take baclofen, occasional pain med, massages, exercise, etc. some times it isn't so darn aggravating but at other times, gee!

wondering if "unspecified demylinating disease" or MS can cause such things?

ufrustrated,
I have just had my second acupuncture treatment - you may want to consider that as well.  I get both - massage every three weeks and the needles are set up for about every other week. Keep searching until you find some relief....

yes, i do get massages and she is very good. it has been awhile though. i do not get them consistently due to the econ and such. i will call her and setup another one. and they do help me relax more than just about anything. the masseuse has to be good with a good connection otherwise i do not relax well with the rushed business like attitude with some.

i  would have thought with all that it would have gone away. guess the lack of consistent massages will not produce the results i'm looking for.

back to the table! thanks for the feedback

Sorry, you did say that you get massages, didn't you?  My muscles are relieved by massage, but the spasm does come back.

Hey, anybody around that can pound on that muscle for you?  I've had this problem for about three years, and it's a spasm of the muscle.  Hubby insisted upon massaging it for me, and to my surprise, it actually helped.  It'll spasm again, but there is relief from the unremitting pain.

not my new neuro, no. but for a number of years i brought it up with another doctor. back then everything was, "stress", "job", "etc..." we know that drill.  that was before i had this current assessment of some demyl-disease, so maybe there is something causing that besides the "reason de jour" . i'll be sure to ask the next time i see the neuro.

thanks!

Ufrustrated,
If I got the concept correct, MS spasms can occur anywhere you have muscles.  Have you specifically asked your doctor to examine this spot on your neck to be sure it is not something else beside a spasm?

Here's hoping your night out was relaxing,

Well then, a big HELLO to you too! after 22 years having finally gotten to "unspecified" has given me some hope. that in itself though, adds a whole new set of old mental barriers I have to break down. you know how that goes...

any hoot, a big hello to you, and a have a nice Sunday. i'm going to step out with some friends and "chill" a bit
