It is hard not to be nervous during the waiting period. Your brain will take you in all kinds of directions. As far as the contrast I could not answer that. I get contrast every time they scan my brain and it never shows any change.
I am not sure those overhead mirrors are such a good idea. The first time I had one, the tech kept yawning. Well you know that is contagious and I am trying to stay perfectly still.
Now every time I have to tell the tech to make sure no one yawns in the window while I am in the tube. Some of them find it funny, some look at me wierd. They are all different and have different mannerisms.
Don't stress that just makes you feel yucky.
I hope you get all your answers soon

Hi heather,
It is hard not to read things into the tech's mannerisms, but everyone else is right - you can't know what it means. I've had a number of mri's now, and each time the tech has behaved differently.
I've had chatty ones. I've had ones who see my mri and go silent. I can't tell you if any were pacing because I was in the mri and couldn't possibly see what the tech was doing. I've never had the benefit of overhead mirrors. :-)
I am trying to remember my spinal series - I'm thinking it was not with contrast. I've had gad for every brain mri, though.
Good luck on Monday - I hope you get some answers and can move on in what direction is appropriate.
be well,
Lulu
well i ordered the CD and i see my neuro with the results on monday the 7th so the waiting game is not that long .
it was just weird i have had ultra sounds and never felt like the way i did when he walked back in the room..... i am sure it's just stress and concerning feeling i have .
sarahsmom- do you have MS?
heather
I have learned from personal experience to not try to read into tests until the Doctor explains them. I was given my first MRI report six months before a Doctor explained it to me. This nearly drove me mad. Since then I just have the test and wait.
Alex
I had a spinal MRI once where the tech said they didn't need to do the contrast because they were able to see what they needed to see without it. That is not totally unusual.
As far as the pacing back and forth that you saw, don't read anything into it. I have seen these techs do all types of stuff while others were in the MRI (I was waiting to be taken in) and pacing is the least of the strange things I have seen them doing. We think they shoudl be watching the monitors, but seems they don't have to do that every second.
Hang in there while you wait for the results. It is what the doctor tells you that matters most. Don't forget to get a copy of the report and a CD of the MRI for your medical records if you can.
Take care.
