Underwear for people with MS

Hello, My mother has MS and can no longer stand.  She still transfers to a toilet but she cannot pull her pants down.  I have suggested she wear skirts but her underwear is still an issue.  She will not go without underwear due to leakage and bladder control problems.  Can you recommend a type of underwear that would be thick enough to catch any accidents but also has velcro or something to allow her to open the lower area to urinate or defecate without actually pulling them down.  Disposable would be alright but if not they must be washable.  Thank you.

Karen

Hi, Karen, yes your mom is definitely lucky to have you.

I looked over the hdis site and didn't find exactly what you were describing, but there are incontinence pads that are on a strap and band which might allow for pulling out of the way.  The site is very clear on the products so I hope it helps.

There are also panties with pads built in which you do have to pull down, but are washable and reusable for a number of times.  My mom used those and like them.

Hi Karen,
Your mom is fortunate to have you  looking for ways to make her life easier and better.

Several people here have used this website for supplies and you might browse their online catalog for the type of product your mom needs...

Maybe someone here will still be able to give you a more specific answer,

my best,
