sorry not around much, getting a different type of support for a little while

With all that is going on I was so enouraged by the love on this site, but realised I needed to speak a little with people from my own country, who understand the problems with our benefits system and health service.  I found an excellent UK website, which is not as personal or loving as this forum, but I could explain these 'cultural' obstacles and be understood in ways only those who live here know.  It is a massive site, and I think with too many people for me to get the family feel I get from here, and technically they have more problems than Medhelp!  But the need to talk with other UK residents was strong.  I can never fully understand what it is like to be sick in America or Canada or Australia or wherever, and I needed to bare all without having to explain our systems here.  But this other site won't become my home, my home is here.  I'll come back soon.

Self treating myself with over the counter steroids for a maddening vibrating ear drum.  I know the sinuses behind are inflamed.  Really feels like there's a rattlesnake deep in my ear, horrible.  Maybe need something stronger.

Also found there's a totally anonymous counselling service at work.  They don't specifically do anger management (kind of worrying they'd take someone on who needs that!) but do practical style couselling, helping you to deal with current circumstances rather than the tell me about your childhood approach.  They also had heaps of self help books available to borrow for as long as you like.  There was amongst them an anger management workbook.  Something to read on the train, and ensure people keep their distance when they see what I'm reading and my metal cane on standby ;-)

Spent one journey home first being hounded by a woman who claimed she could cure me of my lameness, sending me fleeing to another carraige when the train pulled in.  Then stood on the crowded train and nearly fell over as a man screamed in my ear to the whole carraige "THIS WOMAN NEEDS A SEAT!"  I attract nutters like moths to a flame.  Well, got the seat, between two drunk men who were part of a large partying group.  One got up to talk to his mates and despite my protesting loudly at him did not realise he was standing on my foot while talking.  His mates got him off me.  Then one of them apologized on the behalf of his rude friend, and to show his feelings spilled his can of beer all over me.
That anger management book would have helped a lot.
Life rubbish.  Tell you all about it one day, if anyone's listening.  With the British brigade just now

Just want to comment on what you said about a man not realising he was standing on your foot, someone stood on my foot on the bus recently and it was ME who didn't realise - until she apologised - I hadn't realise the lack of feeling in my left foot until then,

Your actions tell me you are caring about yourself and that is great!  Someday, I hope you write a book of short stories.  I would buy it in a heartbeat!! I love your sense of humor.
Hugs,

I'm so happy that you found a forum that speaks the same language, medical-system-wise, and also happy that you know that this is really your home where we know and love you, even if we don't totally understand what you're going through.

Practical counseling, anonymous, with books available for reading at your leisure sounds like just the ticket!

Honey, there are so many nutters out there that they can't be avoided!  I usually get some out-of -shape loser-looking guy that thinks I'm hot, which makes me feel bad about how I look, if that's what I attract!

I'm glad that the drunk's friends got him off of your foot without having to thwack him with your anger management book!  :o)  People drink been on the train?  Ewwhhh!

Hang in there, girl, sounds like you're doing OK.  Glad you checked in; I missed you!

Hugs,

Kathy

I'm glad you're expanding your search for support.  I think people who use tools and avenues afforded them have an easier time through life.  Sometimes it's hard to overcome obstacles that keep us from seeking help.  I'm glad you are making progress with this.  We'd spearhead a search party if you ever totally fell off the map, so do show us some signs of life once in awhile, ok?

Take care, and all my best to you and your mates.  Blimey good news!

Just wondering if you found the UK MS board? I started there but the cultural differences were pretty stark and I went back to looking and found this cozy community instead.  To say nothing of the time difference - I would sign on and there would be two or three people on the board because it was the middle of the night over there!

It is so goood to hear you have found a comfy home.  Keep up with the anger management.  Your adventures on the train made me laugh - I will miss your entertainment here.

Be well and get happy,
Lulu
