Hi deb and audrey, Yes it did start out like a cell phone was on vibrate and I would check my phone but it was not ringing. When it first started it was my arm and it would come and go...But now it is pretty much everyday and its all over like I swallowed a cell phone!! I am taking gabapentin which seemed to work at first but now its back full force.
The ringing is everyday too and I also have a twitch in my left eye for months and such pain in my feet..I hope I can get to the bottom of this soon. I see a ms doctor on april 30th (they found brain lesions) but I still dont know whats going on.
Thank you so much for the warm welcome...This is a great site!! :)
It's very common in people with MS to get a vibrating feeling in a specific location. I will get the vibrating feeling on my right leg, and it does feel exactly like a cell phone set on vibrate. I often time start searching around for my cell phone to make sure it's not in a pocket or something. Sometimes, when I'm carrying my purse with my cell phone in it, I will feel this on my hip (the same hip my purse is up against). I have to search every time. It is almost always this weird sensation that I'll get because of my MS.
The tinnitus for me started many years ago. It start in one ear and it was intermittent. Now it's in both ears and it's full-force ringing all of the time. I have hearing loss in both ears. One ear is worse than the other. I need hearing aids, but I can't afford them right now. From what I understand is that when MS affects an ear, it is not common. I guess it does happen, though, as evidenced by myself and others here on this forum. I also have had optic neuritis. The weird thing is that when the ON was active, the ringing in my ears would become intermittently louder with sound bursts when moving my eyes. Strange, hugh?
By the way, welcome to the forum!
Deb
I've had all kinds of weird neurological problems, including the vibrating feeling that you describe. For me, it happened about two months ago and lasted for about two weeks.
The vibrating feeling was in a very specific area; in the interior right thigh. The sensation would last anywhere from less than a minute to 15 minutes and would come and go throughout the day.
I researched the web on this and many explanations said that this was from keeping a cell phone in one's pocket on vibrate! I have a cell phone, but I rarely carry it in my pants pocket, so that didn't quite fly with me!!!
As for the ringing in your ears, this is called tinnitus. I haven't had the buzzing, but the ringing is a persistant symptom and drives me crazy. It can be so loud that it wakes me up at night.
