My first period after the surgery was awful, I was practically bed ridden for 5 days, I think its normal for them to be a lot worse for a while! I also noticed a lot more pain on the missing ovary side every month for a long time.
Thanks hopeshell!
Just to let u know my bleeding stopped at the weekend, so was only a day or so longer than a normal period, just a week earlier! And a lot redder than usual!
Hope yours has stopped now payne, and the cramping? X
Yes, it is normal to have your period be different following surgery. It can take about 3 months for your cycle to get back to normal. If you get severe pain or unusually heavy bleeding then you should call your doctor. Otherwise, it is normal to have this change following surgery. Best wishes for continued healing!

I was wondering the same for myself on if somthing was wrong with me or not too.Plus Ive had type 1 diabetes since I was 7 and Im 38 now so I know for me it takes longer to heal. But still this is abnormal for a period for me.
Hi I can't answer your question but hoping someone else can as I am in a similar situation. I had a 15cm cyst, right ovary, tube and appendix removed on Mon 17th Jan. I had no bleeding at all after the op but a week later on Mon 24th my period started, a week earlier than it would normally be. It is still just as heavy now, 4 days later, bright red blood. I have no cramping tho. Would like to know if this is normal or if I have pulled or damaged something inside!
