Could ovarian cysts and bowel problems be linked?

I'm 16 and have been getting ovarian cysts since I was 13. I was rushed to the E.R when they thought I had appendicitis, but it was a cyst. I get numerous cysts each month, most of them burst which cause a great deal of pain.

Lately my bowels have been weird. There's a lot of rumbling in my stomach, and I can feel everything moving around. I go a lot, but its normal. I've been on the gassy side too.

Yesterday my stomach was killing in my pelvic area, to the right of my left hip. I figured out it was a cyst when I tried putting a tampon in. It hurt like hell in the same spot I described. It got worse as the day went on and nothing helped the pain. Today, its mostly gone, but I know its still there. (I always feel my cysts burst). Maybe it wasn't even a cyst? But I was having cramps too, but I finished my period on the 9th, so it wasn't my period starting.

I've also been getting a lot of discharge. Everything is normal about it, just the quantity is large. It's almost like I'm on a "clear period". I also get extreme pain when on my period. I get it every 19-22 days, and it usually lasts 3-7 days. Even though I'm only 16, I've had it with periods. I hate them.

So could all this be related? My stomach ache, the bowel problems, the discharge? Also, would I be a good candidate for birth control? I've thought about it because I'm sick of cysts and extremely painful periods. I always used to go to my doctors, but they finally gave up and said there was nothing they could do to help me.

It's such a shame that your doctors are not paying more attention to your problems.  The stomach ache and bowel problems can be related to cysts.  I'm not sure on the discharge one unless some have burst and are now draining.

You need your doctors to determine if you might have endometriosis and/or PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrom).  Birth control pills could definitely help.  They stop you from ovulating which eliminates the cyst problem.

Good luck and I hope they can get down to the bottom of this for you.
