Cysts!!

I am so confused!!!! I have been back and forth to drs. with pelvic pain. Got nowhere! I was hurting so bad I went to the ER on April 28th. I had a doc that was determined to find out what was causing all the pain. He ran all sorts of tests, told me I had a possible dermoid on my right ovary. I went to the ER today to pick up my medical records to go to the Ob-Gyn tomorrow(hopefully). I am reading my records and to me it sounds like I have ALOT more than just the cyst on my right ovary. Am I reading this correctly? This is what it says "Transvaginal pelvic ultrasound performed only as specifically ordered demonstrating a roughly 2.6 cm complex right ovarian mass, which may represent a complex complex cyst versus a dermoid versus other nonspecific mass, as discussed above. A small left ovarian cyst was seen. No evidence of torsion. Retroverted uterus with multiple small probable fibroids."  What the heck does all that mean? It is like reading a foreign language to me.  Anyone have any advice?  Is 2.6 cm big or small or average or WHAT?  Thanks!

I have applied for every state assistance that I know is available in my county. I have been turned down. I live in Clarksville, TN. We have been voted in some magazine(I forget the name) as the worst place to live for health care! I believe it now!!!  Since I have been turned down constantly I was so relieved when I thought I was finally going to get some help. Now I feel like I am back to square one, hell, I am back at square one!

OMG that is terrible! Just terrible.
Call the Health Department ASAP and advise them of this.
Beg them for assistance. There must be some sort of social program in place to assist with medical care?
I'm guessing you live in the USA?

I'm so sorry to hear this. :(

I went to the Dr. today. The same drs. office that told me one month ago they would be able to remove my cysts and tie my tubes all at the same time! Remember I told y'all I had to travel out of the county I live in to see the Ob-Gyn becuase I have no insurance and they are the only clinic around who will see me on a "sliding scale". They told me today they CANNOT help me because I do not live in the county in which the clinic is located. I was refered to them by the Health Dept. (in my county). I am so upset (and still hurting) I just do not know where to turn next.

Wonderful advise from all of the terriffic women above.  Even a 1cm  cyst can cause horrible pain.  The bes thing to do is just follow your doctors orders, and remember that YOU know your body the best.  If something does not feel right, fight until they listen to you.  If your gyn will not listen to you, find one that will!!!  We are here for you if you need us!!  Praying for peace and for you to get the answers you deserve.  Hugs, Kasie

When I go to the ER they are pretty good about giving me something for the pain but they always say they can't take care of the pain "long term". I understand that. The last time I saw an Ob-Gyn, she told me Ibuprofen will do the job. Most of the time it does but some days it just does not cut it. I go to the Dr. tomorrow, but I go to a clinic and I don't always get to see the same Dr. I feel like I don't have a Dr. that really knows me. They just know me from reading my chart!!!  The last time I went to the Dr. though we thought there was just the one cyst. I read my records(like I said before) and there is more going on than I or the Ob- Gyn realized. So we'll see. Thanks Ladies!

All my cysts hurt.  Sometimes they ached.  Some cysts don't hurt at all and they are found incidently but most of the women here had cysts that hurt and brought them to either the ER or their gynes.  Stay postive.

It is amazing that sometimes the smallest cysts cause the most pain while some women with large ones have no pain.  I had a rather large one and an enormous amount of pain.  Don't let anyone tell you it shouldn't hurt and do ask for something to help if need be.  You don't need to live with that pain and I'm sure your doctor will have a solution for you.  Please keep us posted.

I have been reading alot in the last couple of hours! All the sites I go to say cysts are not very painful. I am in pain daily and it has me worried. Sometimes it is dull and achy and sometimes it is steady and acute. This pain has been going on, slowly getting worse for months! I am tired of it! My body is tired and my mind is tired!   Thanks y'all for your advice and prayers!

Kayla,

A 2.6 cm cyst is not all that big.  I see no reason to panic.  Your uterus is tipped and a large percentage of women have tipped uteruses.  Also, they’ve identified some fibroids which are almost always benign.  Your doctor will focus on that complex cyst.  I’m sure there will be more testing in your future but there is no reason to panic.  It is very common.  Just followup with your doctor and come here for support and advice.  95% of ovarian cysts are benign!

Hi there.  You've come to the right place.  Relax.

They are saying you have a tipped uterus (very common), small fibroids (also very common and ignored unless get big and cause a lot of bleeding) in your uterus, the 2.6 cm possible dermoid cyst (this is small and can likely be removed via laporascope and over 95% are benign) and a small cyst on your left ovary which is something that happens every month as a byproduct of ovulation (normal).  Do take a look at the health pages (top right) and the listing for types of cysts and symptoms.  You'll find them helpful and the other posting on this site on Ovarian Cyst Pamphlet is very good.

Hope this helps.
