Persistent ovarian cysts

Hello, I am new here. I just turned 50. am in menopause, I believe, and have been dealing with persistent pelvic pain for about three months. Some days, it's all I can do to get through my work and come home. In November, an external sonogram found a cyst on my right ovary. (I had a large dermoid cyst on the same ovary removed when I was 32 and have had follicular cysts on and off also since my 20s.) A follow-up transvaginal sonogram last week showed the cyst found in November was still there, and another cyst had shown up, too. The sono tech could not find my left ovary. Here are my questions: My late mom was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in her early 50s, and breast cancer was prevalent in her family. Should I ask my doctor for a CA-125 test? She is reluctant. Are there any remedies for pain? She suggests placing a cloth soaked in castor oil on my pelvic area. I can only take Tylenol because a mild kidney disease makes me unable to take stronger over-the-counter analgesics such as Motrin. The Tylenol is not working very well. I have an appointment with my doctor in late February. Any suggestions on what I should do from here?

Do you know what type or size the cysts are?  I'm concerned about them not being able to see the one ovary.  Cysts seldom resolve themselves if they haven't after 2 menstrual cycles.  Get a 2nd opinion - you shouldn't be grinning and bearing this - I would want them out so you know what you're dealing with and earlier is better.

Thanks so much for your great advice. I plan to call my gyn tomorrow and push for a CA-125, especially given my late mom's history of breast cancer and the ongoing pain. I am really wiped out from hurting all the time. As of yet, we have no plans for surgery. It's just watchful waiting at this point, although I haven't talked to my doctor since my sono last week. Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

What is your gyn planning to do?  Aren't you having surgery to remove them?  I would be pushing for that and a CA-125 wouldn't hurt but it is not definitive and can be high due to infection or low even if malignancy is involved.  What about Tylenol 3's for the pain?  It is very painful and I was on percocet's with mine.  You may find some relief with a heating pad or baths but this needs to be dealt with.
