Enlarged Ovary

This all started a year ago with my right ovary. I was having pain and I went to my doctor she sent me for the ultrasound and it came back with a large cyst. I had my right ovary, tube and the cyst removed. Shortly after I started having pain again and I went for another ultrasound, just when I thought I was done with them and they found a cyst on my left ovary. However it was not a big one and we decided to just watch and wait. Well I started having pain again and I went in today for another ultrasound and the technichian this time was actually talking about the ultrasound which none of the other ones have done in the past. It could be because she was training someone too. Anyhow she mentioned that my left ovary was enlarged. She also said there were a couple of cysts on my ovary one looked like it had burst and one looked a little different. She wasn't sure why my ovary was enlarged she said maybe it was because I only had one. Has this happened to anyone or has anybody heard of your ovary being larger when you only have one. My doctor never said that would happen. I also feel very swollen on my left side. I have a follow up appointment on Tuesday.

I didn't think that having only one ovary would cause my remaing ovary to be enlarged. I will let you know how things go on Tuesday. My actual doctor is out of the office until November, so I am seeing a nurse practioner. I am not worried about that though the three women that are in the office are awesome.

I would suspect that it is large because of the cyst action and many women have had that because of it - not because of only one ovary.  She should not have been talking like that in your ultrasound, especially when she evidently doesn't know much.    Please let us know how your appointment goes.
