A little freak out................

Hi all--  More of a vent than a question.  I am having surgery on Tuesday to remove a complex, septated, 4.1 x 5.1 x 4.3 cyst.  Based on the CT scan and the U/S, my gyno explained all of the reasons why she thinks it is unlikely to be malignant.  I felt very reassured for a couple of days but am getting anxious again.  Maybe just pre-surgery jitters but I've had this nagging thought that despite all of the evidence to the contrary, I have cancer.  I think it stems from the first time I looked at the symptoms for ovarian cancer and I have every single one.

Anyway==anyone's intuition prove right despite what docs thought?  Having a very fatigued, painful, blah day--hopefully I feel better tomorrow!

Tell us how you make out on Thursday, it will soon be over and behind you.  Like Marie said occupy your time with pleasant distractions.  I think I will take to drinking myself and see if that helps.  Just kidding!!!

Thanks for all of the kind words!!  I got a call from the doctor's office today and my CA-125 is 5.  Feeling much better.  But, she had to postpone the surgery due to an emergency procedure.  I'm on the slate for Thursday.

Thanks Again!

Actually the normal range for CA-125 is zero to 35.

Benign cysts cause symptoms that can make one think the worst.  The symptoms motivate us to get treated, so they are a blessing in disguise.

Pre-op anxieties can be brutal.  Try to remain calm.  Easy to say, I know.  It is much easier to deal with the post-op healing and the relief than it is to deal with the endless thoughts prior to surgery.  Occupy your mind with some kind of pleasant distractions...whatever pasttimes you enjoy.

I hear yah, I feel exactly the same way.  I have a 5 cm hemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary or so the gyno thinks it is.  I am getting freaked out because he says my CA125 is at 80 and high is 20, yikes!!!!  I guess it's our way of trying to deal with the what if's but all at the same time it makes you realize what is important and what's not.  It's Gods way of making us special so that we know how to appreciate life when others don't have a clue!!!!

Goodluck hun- iam sure it will be fine. Itis very unlikely you have cancer spes if the tests come back that you havnt. Althou i know what itis like to worry ad convince yourself something is wrong. Iam exactly the same. Before my cysts was diagnosed i convinced myself it was ovarian cancer. I think its the thought of having this horrible thing in or overies that houldnt be there - even if itis thought to be 'common' - its alien to us.
Let us know how you get on - Its great your having surgery to finally get rid if it - Means you can get back to normal when its out! xxx take care xx
