PLEASE READ! I know its long but I need your help/advice desperately!

I went for a transvaginal ultrasound last Friday and they found a cyst on my right ovary. I am going that most of you have seen and had an ultrasound on your ovaries so maybe you can help me out. The ultrasound showed a large dark circle (right ovary is with the cyst) and no gray color and the healthy left ovary was mostly gray on the ultrasound. Also, there appeared to be a lot of blood in the area where the cyst was and not much blood at all appeared on the ultrasound for my healthy left ovary. Does anyone know what this might mean?? The doctor said it is slightly enlarged and not a small cyst really. My doctor called me today and said I have to wait 6-8 weeks and have another ultrasound to see what is going on. She said she cant say at this time that it is an abnormal cyst until I get another ultrasound in 2 months. I am in alittle pain near the ovary with the cyst. Its these little shooting pains that go down to my right thigh sometimes but mostly just an uncomfortable constant tightness in the area where the cyst is and it hurts. Also, I have been VERY tired for the past month more than my still abnormal tiredness that I have been having for the past few months. My doctor said this isnt related to the cyst but I dont believe her. I have also had headaches throughout the week for almost a year now and I have had pain while having sex for the same amount of time. I told her I had pain while having sex in January and she said use more lubricants and more fore-play never took me seriously and now look... so I dont trust her and I am getting a gyno for a second opinion. Could this be ovarian cancer? Is that why I am soo tired and having all the symptoms of ovarian cancer? I am only 21 so I think that is why she isnt thinking about that as a possibility besides for not being a good doctor in general. What are my options for diagnoses? I cant wait 2 months for another ultrasound! I am a college student and I have missed soooo much class this semester that I am going to have to withdraw or something because of all the symptoms I have been having especially the extreme fatigue! I would rather have the cyst removed and tested now then wait 2 months! Ive had nausea, vomiting, dizziness upon standing, daily headaches/migraines, lost 14 pounds in 10 months unintentionally and no changes in my lifestyle, stomach pain, bloating, constipatio/diarrhea, and just extreme fatigue that is ruining my life. Help! What are my options here?

I agree with what others have said regarding getting another opinion. I have been playing the "watch and wait game" for 3 years, but that was my choice, as I tend to be more on the conservative side of surgery. I do believe though that your chances of having ovarian cancer are probably not as great as you may think. (just my opinion) Maybe you have something else going on with your body? In any case, do seek a 2nd. opinion if you're not satisfied with the first. And join the rest of us in the "watch and wait club".  :)
Keep us updated.
God bless...

Hi There,
Sorry you are going through all this. Like the others have said, try not to worry. I would definitely get another opinion. I actually got 3 opinions. There is nothing wrong with additional opinions. I too had ovarian cysts/lesions on both my ovaries. We played the watch and wait game for a YEAR....ugh, it is so not fun. If you are having all these symptoms which absolutley could be related to your cyst and it is affecting your quality of life, get a new doc who will listen to you.
I hope you get some relief...
Take care and keep us posted

Trudie is right...if you don't feel like you are being taken seriously from your dr...go to another. I went to my dr for 2 1/2 years about the pelvic pain and pain during sex. He just put me on Naproxen and I was already on birth control for the heavy bleeding. He has said the whole time that my uterus was enlarged but didn't seem to  be bothered by it. On my 3rd TVUS the cyst showed up. I took it upon myself to call an OB/GYN to get an appt. Make sure you check with your insurance company to see if you need a referral or if you can make the appt yourself. If you need one...insist on it. You have the right to stand up for yourself...and find someone who will listen to you and take your health seriously. A second opinion never hurts. God bless...Lynn

Many of your symptoms (see health pages) are likely due to the cyst but as I mentioned in your other posting, it is quite unlikely it is cancer.  If you have no confidence in your doctor it is time for a change.  If you are in this much pain they need to give you something to help as you don't need to live feeling so badly.
