Ovarian cysts and hysterectomy

Worried about the test results from an ultrasound I recently had. I would like to know exactly what they are saying. I'm 34 have three kids my tubes are tied I'm scheduled for a hysterectomy on sep 6th for severe cervical dysplasia and also very heavy cycles. Im scared of cancer since it says pelvis mass. My mother died of stomach cancer at the age of 40. Any info would be helpful. Here are the results from the ultrasound........
Impression
Unchanged 1.7 cm left ovarian lesion which may represent a complex hemorrhagic cyst.  Solid mass not excluded.  Recommend continued followup.  Pelvic MRI may be useful for further characterization.

The uterus is   The uterus measures 9.7 x 4.0 x 6.0 cm.    The endometrial thickness is within normal limits measuring 8 mm.  Small amount fluid present within the endometrial canal which is likely physiologic in nature.  Note that patient is currently on her menstrual cycle.

Right ovary is normal and measures 3.2 x 2.0 x 2.3 cm.

Left ovary measures 3.4 x 1.7 x 2.3 cm. 1.7 cm slightly heterogeneous rounded hypoechoic focus within the left ovary appears unchanged.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a hysterectomy. Did your cervical biopsy show CIN3? Did you have a LEEP to treat the dysplasia to see if that removed the abnormal cells?

Most ovarian cysts resolve on their own, no intervention needed. 1.7cm is really small. Our ovaries are vital our whole lives for good health so you don't want to have one or both ovaries removed if it isn't necessary. Unfortunately, both hysterectomy and oophorectomy (ovary removal) are grossly overused. Both of these surgeries are inherently damaging since the these organs have life long function. Contrary to what we are led to believe, they are not just for reproduction.

Best of luck to you in getting proper and restorative  treatment.
