Scar tenderness, etc.

First of all, my apologies for not entirely knowing where to put this question.

Secondly, the background story. I had a 7 cm dermoid cyst surgically removed in December 2007. I was left with a repaired left ovary (internal, dissolving stitches) and a 6 inch scar under my bikini line. Recently, as in within the last month, I decided that I would venture the gym again - as it's been nearly 7 months and I should be healed - and have been performing cardio exercises alternating on the recumbent bike and elliptical machines with a good chunk of pilates afterward.

My question is this: The days that I use the recumbent bike and then do my pilates are pain free. The days that I use the elliptical is another matter. While I am on the machine, there is no problem, but when I get to pilates, my scar feels as though it's on fire. It is intermittent and will go away after about 20 minutes, but is very uncomfortable. So I am wondering, is this something that I should worry about? Should I stop using the elliptical? Is this pulling on the scar tissue (inside and out) in a bad way? I have asked my doctor about it and only got a, 'if it hurts, don't do it' answer. I was hoping for an explanation of some sort.

On another, slightly more explicit note - my husband and I were having sex the other day when a pain radiated through to my left ovary - ONLY. Is this tied in to the pain that I feel at the gym? Could it be that I am still not healed 100% and should still be taking it easy?

Thank you!

Thank you for your insight! I will have to check out the information but for now, I'm on my way to the gym and will spend some special time with the ball to try & work out the ache! A great remedy!

I found a little more information. Mary53 has some information about Yamuna body rolling. That's a simple technique to gently break up those adhesions in the abdomen. You could look up the name of the technique or send a note to Mary (hope she doesn't mind).

I'm thinking it might be adhesions, especially since it also involves just the side that had surgery. I still get some days when I feel like my left ovary is hurting, that deep ache and pulling feeling. But there's no ovary there. I like to roll on my big squishy exercise ball to massage things in there and it feels better.

I don't want to leave my msg box and risk losing it but did we ever get the "ball rolling" technique on the health pages?

Hopefully, someone will come along that can help you better. I am thinking you are probably doing too much? Maybe you should skip the elliptical machine for now and just do the other?  But since you had pain with sex, maybe you should call your doctor back and ask about that too?
I hope you get some other replies that are helpful. Take care!
