Hi all,
I recently had to have a laparoscopy appendectomy and removal of a 3.5cm cyst on my right ovary. Everything that happened after the surgery seemed pre-warned (bloating, pain in chest and shoulders from gas, etc) except for the bleeding. My surgery was done this past Sunday, and yesterday (Wednesday) I woke up at 3:30AM with vaginal bleeding. A complete nerve wreck, I went to the ER as no one pre-warned me for bleeding pre-op.
The on call doctor told me that it was probably some old blood make it's way out after the surgery. However, both last night and this morning, the blood did not look old and is not comparable to my normal thick and gooey menstrual bleeding. I was bleeding so much that it would fall to the floor before I was even able to sit on the toilet. Since this morning, it has begin to slow back down.
My concern is, is this normal?? And how long will it last for? One doctor told me it would only be 5 days while another told me "Well, it's not normal- but I guess it can happen. It will either stop or continue... I would wait to see what happens" which was not the most comforting thing to hear from a "doctor".
I'm really worried as this is my first surgery. Any advice would be much appreciated!!
Thank you,
Rachel
