HELP, I don't know what to think, I'm really scared!!!!!

Well, I went in for my CTscan today.  When it was over, I said to the tec...."I guess you tell me if you saw a cyst can you?"  and she said "No I can't, but I can tell you that if the radiologist sees anything that is concerning he will let your doctor know over the weekend.  That is all I can tell you."  So now I am not sure what to think.  They have NEVER told me anything like that before.  I saw my pcp nurse in the parking lot and told her what the tec said and she was like "Hum, that is strange.  Well, if it is anything, Dr will let you know ASAP.  The think is that it will not even be read until sometime this weekend.  I am really scared at why she said that.  I think she saw something that had her concerned.  Maybe it was a really large cyst or maybe it was solid.  I just don't know!!!!  This stress is all I need on top of having a pluerisy(Sp) attack on Monday that sent me to the ER.  YIKES!!!!   Any thought would be great.  Has anyone else had this happen???? Hope you all are doing well.  Love, Kasie

Kasie, My Friend...deep breath, girl.  All techs are different.  What this one said is the truth.  She is not supposed to tell you anything.  She really shouldn't have added that the doctor would call you over the weekend.  Now you're sitting there anxious about the phone ringing.

When my daughter got pushed and hurt her knee they allowed me into the x-ray room.  After they took the picture and it showed on the screen she said "everything looks OK to me".  I said "what about this?"  The knee had this little piece that seemed to be lifted. She said, "Oh, that's nothing".  WELL...it was her growth plate that had lifted from the knee.  So...all that to say...they are techs, not radiologists.

I hope your doctor calls you soon with GOOD news so that you can stop worrying.

Hugs!

Kasie, I hope you are now relaxing as much as possible and that your mind is calm.  The waiting causes us so much pain.  Please let us know how it goes.

I agree with the above comments; the only time the tech told me what he saw was when I went myself and paid for an ultrasound because I felt something move inside me. It was the cysts and he told me because I didn't go with a doctor's note or anything, but I did have to go to my obgyn afterward.  Even if it is a cyst, or multiple cysts, try to relax! They are mostly benign, even solid ones, honey, so don't worry until you hear something, okay? Try to relax :) Good luck!

Hi I do know from experience that the tec is technically not suppose to tell you if they see anything. I have had this happen several times. On occasion you do get real nice ones that will tell you but they always ask that you not tell that they told you. I hope that made sense.

Good Luck!!

Oh Kasie--- you're as bad as I am... so I can really relate to this ! I'm forever "reading" things into things folks say to me .. they "looked" odd , "they hesitated before answering", etc. The list goes on and on.

She probably only meant to assure you that if there was anything wrong, they wouldn't wait forever to let you know. She is right  saying she couldn't discuss it. It's actually unethical... Please, please don't read stuff into it. (easy coming from me) . And it helps me to say to myself.. "whatever it is, already is, so worrying about it won't change a thing" .. Try to have a good weekend and keep busy ! I just know how stressful this can be. I'm the worlds worst worrier.. Stay active as you can with the pleurisy and let us know if anything comes up. Take care ..
Love,
Sandy
