Welcome to the forum. Over 95% of all cysts are benign. Unfortunately they can't be absolutely sure it is non-cancerous until they remove and biopsy it. Has your doctor advised his plan of attack? I had a huge amount of pain and bloating (see the health pages for more on types of cysts and symptoms) and feel so good now that I've had my surgery.
No my internist just referred me to a gyn. I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and they left my ovaries. What should I expect, now and in the near future?? I am scheduled to be out of town for a convention at the end of next week - should I be concerned??
How was the surgery/ recovery time? I just found out I have 2 complex cysts...one on each side..about 1.5cm each.
Hi there,
First off, sugery is not always warranted. Depending on the size and shape, and growth factors of the cyst will determine the course of action. Most cysts will just go away on their own. The stubborn ones that hang around will be watched closely for awhle to see what they do. 95% of cysts are nothing to worry about in fact many women dont know they have one until it is found inadvertently for another reason. Look at the health pages in the upper right hand corner of this page. There is lots of info there about cysts in general...
Take care
