painful peroids after overian cyst removed

hi,

I was admitted to hospital about 8 weeks ago with really bad stomach pain. At the time i was diagnosed with kidney complecations after a water infection which they then found a cyst on my right overy (about 20cm by 15cm) three days later!!!! I was rush in for an emergency laparoscopy that night (31/7). I had to have my right overy and fallopian tube removed but my recovery has been pretty quick. I had my first peroid about 4 weeks after surgery which was heavier and alot more painful than normal which i kind of expected! But i have just started my second period since surgery and again it is very painful and heavy, Im getting stomach cramps and a pain on my left side just level with the top of my hip, i also have sysptoms for another water infection (need to wee more, slight uncomfort when doing so and very dark urine). The pain in my side is simalar to what i had when i was admitted just on the other side. I am seeing a Doctor this afternoon and have a my follow up on the 6th of Aug. I am getting very worried that this might be another cyst dose anyone know if you can get them again, or has had a simailar experiance and would be able to offer some addvice!

I am glad you are seeing a doctor.  It may be some type of treatable post-op infection that is causing the problem, not necessarily another cyst.  New cysts, unfortunately, can develop (it's not the same ones returning) and there's no real way of knowing if a stubborn new cyst is present other than routine checkups. Under the most normal circumstances they are the result of ovulation and they just go away themselves after ovulation.  Let us know what the doctor tells you.  Best wishes!

I had surgery but they didn't take any of my reproductive system.  I'm having exactly the same problem.  I've been checking with doctors and it's probably the endo returning, but so far it's been inclusive.

thanks for that my doctor wasn't much help he said it was proberly just the way my periods were surpost to be, because i'd had coil fitted 8 months before the op which stoped my periods! But i have never had painful periods before that and always use a condom so never had anything that would help to reduce pain and heavyness! The doc said that if it continues i should consisder using contraception to help with the pain and heavyness. But i think im going to talk to my gynecologist when i see him in at the beginning of oct.

hope he can be a bit more useful! :)

I hope you get your answers in October.  I really think a gyn will be more useful.  This sounds like something an expert on women's problems can answer more than other doctors.

Frankly, any real health problem I've had has been related to gyn issues and without a gyn, nobody would have properly solved the problem for me.
