so many questions

Hi everyone,

First time posting.  Went to hospital Sunday night with severe pain that was radiating down my leg and around to my back.  I was told I had multiple cysts on left ovary, a cyst on right ovary, a UTI and possible diverticulitis.  I have been to gyno, gastro and this morning I am having a cat scan.  The one doctor told me I had fluid in abdomen and this could have been a ruptured cyst but I also know that is not a good sign.  My pain is gone (hoping this is a good sign), just wanted to know if all these symptoms could be caused by a benign cyst??  Little nervous!  Thank You.

I went to the ER a few eeks ago with almost the same pain you are describing. They did an EKG, X-rays, CT scans, and a pelvic ultrasound. The Dr. foung a dermoid cyst on my right ovary. The pain I experience is usually on my left side but the dr. said it does not matter where the pain localizes. I am going  next week for my consultation to discuss laparoscopy and to tie my tubes while they are in there. The Dr. told me if I experience severe pain, vomiting, or late periods I should return to the ER for a possible ruptured cyst. I have pain almost every day and horrible periods. They have me on 800mg. ibuprofen. Most of the time it eases the pain, some times it does not. I also experience almost labor like pains when I have a bowel movement. I am scared but at the same time I cannot wait to have my ovary with the cyst on it removed. When all this first started the Dr. kept telling me I had an UTI. I know my body better than anyone, I knew it was more than that. Good luck to you! Ask a bunch of questions, get the proper diagnosis!!

Hi and welcome to the forum.  You will find many helpful women here.  I am so sorry that you had to go through such a bad experience.  You cysts can definately cause pain as you described.  When a cyst ruptures it is horrible pain too.  It can last for a few hours or a few days.  The fluid will just absorbe into the body, so do not worry about that.  I hope you get answers from the gyno tomorrow.  Hugs, Kasie

If you had pain, and cysts were found, it could very well be that one or more of them burst leaking fluid into your abdomen.  When that happens, it can be very painful!  I had two cysts on my left ovary and one on my right.  One burst and leaked the contents which was so painful, I went to the ER.  Hang in there and take it one step at a time.

Welcome to our forum!  So sorry you are going through this.  Do take a look at the health pages and at the Cyst Symptoms area.  All your symptoms can be associated with cysts.  It is good that your doctors are checking everything out.  Please keep us posted.
