Thanks so much, I meant. Sorry for the wrong spelling.
Thanks do much, ladies. I am seeing my doctor this Friday and I will ask him about the risks and benefits of CS or natural birth for my case.
Are straps a new thing now? I didn't have that before.
Straps? That sounds a bit scary. I didn't have any straps but then again I had my husband with me the whole time and I have heard in some countries they make him leave the room when they do the spinal block.
Oh yes, my OB said if the anethesiologist does not undo my hands out of the straps, to say something & she will do it so I can hold my little guy immediately while she closes me up. This made me very happy because when I had my daughter, I couldn't kangaroo her until the recovery room. That's a great change!
I had a csection last year. You might find its changed a little bit. They encouraged skin to skin contact when he was seconds old, I was up walking the next day, I had sutures and not staples, and felt normal again after 2wks (lifting and driving after 4wks). I love my scar, hardly see it. Due to the same complications I'm having another csection this year as a vbac is more dangerous for me, but ask your dr about it.
Some hospitals, regardless of your feelings or the doctor's suggestion, will not allow a VBAC. I had a successful VBAC with my 16 yr old, but when I was pregnant with my 3 yr old, my OB told me the hospital's policy on VBACs had changed, due to liability. She offered to go to the board & argue my case, but because my VBAC caused cervical prolapse, I chose a c-section. If you have a family history of prolapse, you may want to take that into consideration when you make your decision.
It is a very personal decision. For myself personally I have always been afraid of having a cs there have been more recent studies saying women who have had cs should not always just automatically schedule another, depending on reason for first. It is a major surgery and it takes your body much longer to heal. I have had 2 vaginal deliveries and I am looking forward to giving birth to my third child... I couldn't imagine having my baby then not being able to hold him/her immediately. This is my personal opinion. I understand everyone is different. I would reccomend you discuss with your doctor your risks, do some research, look for medical studies with high number of participants to make sure information is valid and reliable, then make an educated decision.
