We were finally released from the hospital on Sunday - Yay!
Went in On Tuesday , September 29th for my c-section - went in bright and early because I was an add-on and ended up not delivering until 7:41pm (which was earlier than they had thought apparently because there was a cancellation) - very long day!
For the most part the surgery went well, I'm alive and so is she, other than that it was a nightmare (for me). The spinal was hell, three or four tries to get the right spot and then I spent the remaining time thinking I was suffocating as I think I was frozen too high, plus for some reason I was extremely sleepy and kept passing out during the surgery and recovery, very claustrophobic!. A spinal is not something I'm ever going to knowingly consent to again.
So, Mackenzie Katherine was born at 7:41pm on September 29th, at 37+1 weeks gestation (original due date October 19th), weighing in at 5lbs 12.5Oz, 19 inches long - she has very long legs and arms, and BIG feet. No lung / breathing problems. They brought her down to recovery to breast feed within two hours of birth, I had gd since 14 weeks so she was tested for blood sugar issues three times in the first 24 hours and passed with flying colors. The placenta was sent off to pathology because it was small.
Unfortunately she lost too much weight in the first couple of days so we spent the rest of the time trying to get her weight up, finally we passed the weight gain test (she had to gain 20-25 grams a day - ugh) on Sunday and we got released - yahoo!
We're both doing great but apparently when you're living your life in 3 hour chunks you have to squeeze stuff in :-O) She's a great baby, very content and routine oriented.
