36+ Weeks Now! :O)

Hi everyone.  I have been terrible about checking in here.  I last posted when I was 12 weeks along!  The time has gone by so fast!

I am 42 and 36+ weeks pregnant with a baby boy!  This after an ectopic pregnancy, left tube/ovary removal, 2 miscarriages, and a localized melanoma cancer scare.  I am SO blessed and truly send well wishes to everyone on this board.  :O)

I elected to forgo all genetic testing except for a level II ultrasound.  My little guy is doing great.   My husband and I are in awe of this miracle and our family is over the top excited.

Phooey on me, but I am a bit anxious about the upcoming delivery.  Ridiculous huh?  I am a nurse-which makes my irrational fears even more surprising to me.  Last week I was in tears telling my husband that I was worried I wouldn't make it thru and that I didn't want to leave my son without his mommy???!!!???  The next day I felt better, but I still have intermittent fearful thoughts that creep in now and then.

I have had no issues with the pregnancy, and am mad at myself for not completely enjoying these last few weeks.  I feel great and have only gained 9#.  Why am I acting so silly?  I have talked to a few people in my field that told me my feelings are somewhat normal......................

Has anyone else felt this way as the delivery date approached?  Any feedback is much appreciated.  Peace and love to all.

XO~Monica

Your feelings are normal...blame it on the hormones! :)

I am almost a nurse (I will finish my last clinical May 2nd and will take my boards to become a Practical Nurse in May). I think sometimes we have TOO much information about what can happen. With my others, I had no clue so I didn't worry much LOL

I always have weird dreams while pregnant...usually about odd deliveries. I remember (still) very vividly dreaming my son (who will be 19 years old in June) coming out like an Alien...I also had a dream that I held his hand while he was still in my womb.

This time around I've already had dreams that I'm delivering (I'm just 9 weeks, so THAT is a tad early) and after reading stories of numerous miscarriages on this board, I had one dream that I was miscarrying.

I will say that even though I had had my first vaginally, without an epidural...I still had some fear before I had my son. The great news is that once the contractions started, the fear went away. He was a SUPER easy birth...no pain meds needed...41 minutes of labor :) He was 8lbs 4 oz and I still can't believe how easy giving birth to him was. Hopefully, this one will be just as easy come November :)

Best of luck to you on a safe and easy delivery of a healthy, happy baby :)
