You are probably in perimenopause. That is the 5-10 years before actual menopause.
You can still get pregnant as long as you are ovulating, but there are a lot of symptoms associated with perimenopause and hot flashes are one of them.
There are many good books dealing with this subject.

Magnolia--- Hot flashes were one of my first symptoms when I would get pregnant. The second was always hungry.
They have test out there that can tell you if you are in perimenopause or not.
I'd rather do a pregnancy test!!!
lol I hear you on that one. I freaked out and called my doctor right away when I got hot flashes. I was concerning about menopause since I've already experienced it once when I was 31 years old. I have endometriosis and my doctor prescribed depo lupron to help with the fibroyd cyst and endometriosis. It puts your body in a chemically induced menopause and should only last 3 months. Mine lasted about a year, they had a hard time bringing me out of menopause and getting my cycles started again. I swear I felt as though I could have melted the Artic glaciers with those hot flashes. The mood swings were horrible. I can personally say I am not looking forward to going through menopause again when it's actually my time.
