death after gastric bypass and pregnancy

My 33yr old cousin had gastic bypass three years ago.  She presented at the hospital with severe abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting.  An emergency c-section was performed and she delivered a healthy baby boy.  She developed complications and was found to have an obstruction and an internal hernia.  She died five days after giving birth.  Has anyone else had any of these problems or heard of anyone having these complications?
