Anyone else get negative feedback about your baby name from family and friends?

Well hubby and I were pretty set on Jordanna Grace Kenny before we knew what we were having.  Since finding out we have of course started looking at baby names again. I called my sister to tell her it was a girl and she asked me the names we had picked out. I was a bit hesitate to tell her b/c I have had people tell me it really ***** when someone disses your name. I told her and she was "oh no not that " then goes" its to hard to say" WTF???
k, I could understand a little more if I had told her 3 -5 names, she then could have said oh i like this better than that without being so RUDE> but I told her 1 name and she was still so rude. I was really hurt. The thing is now I am second guessing that name all b/c of her! ARRRRRRR.and so is my hubby. both our parents really like the name and I have had some close freinds tell me they like it and screw her. Which of course if that is the name we pick then yes screw her. I was just surprised at how thoughtless she was. Anyone else?

I love Estella Grace.  I think that would make a beautiful for name for a little girl and would also be great for when she's older.  What does your husband think about Estella rather than Estelle?

I guess i am in the same boat we have Zephyr Pheonix for a girl and Harmon Gunner for a boy and alot of people hate it but i just don't care anymore they are not the one that is raising this child or having them make there belly button a punching bag so i am sticking to my guns plus think about it would you ever name your child what they named theres i know i wouldn't for most that are complaining.

Estella is deffiantly better! i like Stella but we thought it sounded funny with the other 2 names Stella Grace Kenny. I dont think it sounds right.
Estella Grace Kenny....I guess its not bad. Maybe it will grow on me. Estelle makes me think of the golden girls!!

What is it that old adage?  If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all.  It would be wonderful if people would just adhere to this basic rule of politeness.  I have certainly heard my share of weird/ugly names, but I just smile and nod.

Thankfully, I have not gotten any negative feedback on Faith Rebekah, probably because it's a family name.  Faith after my cousin, who introduced my hubby and I, and Rebekah after my grandmother.  I'm not sure that my hubby's family loves it, but they seem to know enough to hold their tongue.

Or maybe Stella instead of Estelle.  Estelle makes me think of an old lady, but Stella is very hip.

I like the name Estella moreso than Estelle.  I've loved that name since I read the book "Great Expectations" years ago.

I am really liking Juliana these days and Elaina it is a toss up....but i really like Kamryn and Juliete! this is soooo hard. I feel kinda bad for hubby he wrote up a whole sheet of names and let me tell you they were AWEFUL!!  hopefully known of you have these names in mind....
Estelle
Elenora
Diora
Suzette

those are a few! I just hope he likes these names. I had thought we were on board but he keeps bringing up Estelle!!

My cousin, which will also be my baby's godmother, doesn't like the name I will most likely choose for our son.  She was very blunt about not liking it too.  Honestly though, it's not anyone's child but yours.  Once the baby is here and people are calling him/her by their name they will get used to it and not be able to imagine that child with any different name.  I wasn't too keen on the name of my godson who was born in July before he was here (which I kept to myself), but now that he's here I couldn't imagine calling him anything other than his name.  It just fits!  Stay true to yourself and name YOUR baby what you feel in your heart is their name!  :-)

so sorry about your grandma krushing, i know how difficult it can be.....my bf, which is my babies father doesnt like the girl names i have picked out OR the boy names.....lol
he wants to name my baby after a step-sister/teacher he had a crush on.....Lauren...yuck now THAT is NOT going to happen.....he hates my mothers name of Carolyn and so i havent even mentioned Carol Ann to him....Ann is my middle name.
But because our relationship is in total shambles and we are probably not going to last too long after i heal from c-section....lol....it really doesnt matter whether he likes the name or not...lmao

Well, twins are very common in both mine and DH's family, so when we started our TTC journey, we just automatically came up with 2 girl names and 2 boys names.  Reece Hewett is our first boy name and the name we are using and Brayden Thomas was our second boy name.  DH's grandmother flat out told me she HATED Brayden Thomas!  And you know how pregnant women and their hormones are...well, I smarted off to her that it's a good thing it's OUR baby and not hers then.  And if she didn't like it then she didn't have to come around.  Then of course I started to cry.  There is a Bretton, Braylee, Branden in our family and she hates all of those names!!!  I don't know what her deal is...but if we have boy for our second, it will definitely be Brayden Thomas.

well that is similar to how my sister reacted when i FIRST told her that i was pregnant...she was like "i thought you were on something"....now she is fine and almost excited about it.  she still thinks i am crazy for having #4 as she herself said she couldnt have handled more than the 2 she has.  In fact when i said something about a name with my moms name incorporated into it, she suggested Carol Ann....which our mother's name was Carolyn....i like it and i think i am gonna go with it regardless of what my bf thinks of it...lol...that is IF it is a girl.

Well I have had the same problem, but me being as outspoken as I am said, Good thing it's my baby! I told my DH's aunt that she was just old and our name was more modern, she had me PO*d! That was when we didn't know what we were having and we told them if it were a boy we were naming him Aidyn Scott. She said people in school are gonna tease him and call him aids boy, She is an idiot.

She also hated Jolynn along with a couple of others, but for the most part everyone was like either or is pretty. I got lucky and no one thus far dis likes Addyson, although several didn't like Adalyn. (Still my fav.) but Addyson it is! :)
