Weight gain (a dreadful subject)

So, I will be 28 weeks on Friday the 28th. That will officially be the start of my third trimester, even though some sites say 27 weeks. I go by 28 weeks. Anyhow, I am due November 20th with a baby boy. As of this morning, I have gained 20 lbs. UGH...that seems high! I will be up around the 35 lb mark again by delivery...hopefully not more! Anyone else care to share their weight gain? Am I the only one who has gained 20?? Feeling FAT!

Yes, I do breastfeed but it doesn't help everyone lose weight. Some people actually have a harder time losing weight while breastfeeding and I am one of them. At 33 weeks and a day I have gained 27 pounds and that is a normal weight gain.

I've only gained 18lbs with this pregnancy so far and I'm EXTREMELY proud of myself.
I'm 32w5d.
With my daughter I gained like 70lbs!
Most of it was swelling though because it didn't even take a month for me to lose 40lbs.
Then breastfeeding took care of the extra weight I did gain.

I got pregnant again when my daughter was 4 months old, but didn't find out till I was 11-12 weeks along.
And by then I actually weighed ALOT LESS than I did before I got pregnant with my daughter.
And to think if I lost that much weight with my daughter after gaining all that weight, I plan to breastfeed again and I think of all the weight I can lose even MORE now that I didn't gain that much with this pregnancy.

I dunno if you plan to breastfeed or not, but they aren't lying when they say it's best for the baby and YOU.
If you exclusively breastfeed and watch your calorie intake, you'll lose all that baby weigh in NO TIME and THEN SOME.

Good luck!

I'm almost 32 weeks and i went from 135 and at my last dr appointment i weighed in at 181! i'm pregnant with twins i know that makes some difference. I was measuring 44w at my last appt at 30 weeks... The most i gained with any of my previous preg, was 28lbs. As of now it hurts to walk, stand, sit or lay down! I dont suppose my height helps out any as i'm only 5' I dont have too much longer to go tho 37 weeks is considered term for twins so i am in the last strech thank goodness!

You ladies have made me feel better.  I was actually concerned that I hadn't gained enough weight and let me tell you, I never thought I'd see the day when those words would leave my lips... or my fingertips as it were!!!
I'm 27w2d and I've gained 13 lbs. I was worried that it should be more but from what you ladies are saying, this is okay, yes?
And Michelle, I don't think you need to worry any about weight gain!! LOL.

I was at the dr's monday which was 28w 4d and I was showing a 20 lb gain. You'd never guess, I always get comments about how small I am for how far along I am. But dr. said my weight was perfect. So, assuming 20 lbs for 28 weeks is the norm, sounds to me like you're doing great! I was hoping to only gain around 25 but it looks like I'll be more towards the 35 by delivery. The only reason I'm ok with that is knowing it's all baby. I haven't gained anywhere else so I'm expecting to pop this baby out and go back to normal :).

I'm 27 weeks and as of yesterday I've gained a total of 10lbs since the start. 5lbs just in the past months. I'm sure I'll gain plenty more.

I've gained 4 pounds so far at 29 weeks and according to the average fetal growth chart I found (at http://parenting.ivillage.com/pregnancy/psecondtri/0,,b0lt88zj,00.html) 2.75pounds of that is baby.
Having said that I lost about 13-15pounds early on with morning sickness and overactive thyroid. So from my low point that is a 17-19pound weight gain. So right around what everyone else has had.

My last pregnancy was a singleton, and I think I gained around 20 pounds total.  This pregnancy I have twins.  I started weighing 112 and I think I'm at around 132 now.  I am actually trying to put on enough weight, since I've got two babies to feed!  I think that you're lucky if you're able to put on enough weight, because it helps the babies!

I have also gained 20 lbs!!   I am underweight normally, so they recommend a 40lb weight gain... which i'll probably hit..   i have been SOOO sick with all day morning sickness.. .and was losing weight.. my dr wanted me to start drinking protein drinks and man when i did that i started gaining! I am still sick, but when i take medicine and feel better i tend to eat higher calorie meals since i lost weight at my last visit again from being sick.. but overall i've managed to gain 20!!   I am sooooo ready too!!!
