Confused

I'm 22 years old and from the time i was 15-19 I was with the same guy all through high school and a few years after. We were sexually active starting at the age of 17. I never had a sexual realtionship with anyone while I was with him.Never did drugs. We broke up  and I am now pregnant with a guy I been in a relatiponship with for 2 years(since I was 20)I have only had 2 sex partners and he(my current boyfriend) has only had 1.And I was and still am scared when I got a call that my syphilis test came back inconcluisve when I went to my first prenatal visit. All I know that means its neither yes or no but its still does not help my frantic mind or bring peace.I'm really scared why wouldn't it just come back negative or postive?.I went back for more blood work and have few days to wait so I was hoping I could find some answers before then.I highly doubt "If" I have it that I would have got it from my parnter I am with now.I have a few question that i hope you can answer.

1) What are my chances of having syphilis?

2) Whats the odds of people not having any symtoms (symptoms) at all with syphilis I never had any symtoms (symptoms) how likey is that?

3) If I had it long before I got pregnant does that make a higher risk for my baby?

4) If i got it when I was younger would I be in the stage where it starts to effect my organs? :(

5) why would my test come back inconcusive what are the chances of the new blood work coming back negative?

6) I read that pregnancy can effect the syphilis test is that true?

7) If I get treatment before my 4th month of pregnancy are there still risk that my baby will have any defects?

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOU HELP
xoxo

Relax.  I doubt very much that you have syphilis.  False positive screening tests for syphilis are quite common in a variety of medical conditions, including--ta daaa--pregnancy.  So common it has a partuclar name, "BFP" for "biological false positive".  It has no health implications.  (In fact, it is somewhat irresponsible of your health care provider to tell you the result of the preliminary, screening test until after the confirmatory test result has returned from the laboratory.)

So the answer to question 1 is "almost zero: and the answer to quesion 6 is "yes", and that is probably the case here.  Wait for the routine confirmatory test, which probably will be negative.  If so, all your other questions are moot.

If my guess is wrong and repeat testing confirms syphilis, let me know and I'll go into the other questions.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
