Till the time you get to see the doctor about your sleep walking, I would suggest you to take some precautions so that you do not end up hurting yourself. Place an alarm or a bell near your door, lock all your windows and cover with drapes, make sure there are no hazardous articles on the floor and also try to sleep on the first floor when visiting or staying in a hotel. A sleep neurologist would be your best bet. My father had such behaviors, but to the extreme that he harmed whoever was around him, thinking they were a part of his bad dream. Your wife is right to insist you seek help. Good luck in finding a good sleep doc.
