CHEST PAIN

by LEELEE2055, Aug 07, 2009 11:37AM
Have been experiencing like muscle spasm pain just over my left breast for about 21/2  months. I have not fell or strained myself in anyway, that i can rememeber. The pain just appeared. It is consistently inconsistent. if that makes since. It hurts more when i yawn, take deep breaths & turn.
When i lay down it seems to be more consistent with henry's son the baby elephant trying to sit on my chest, but not quite making it.
I have a high tolerance for pain so i have been dealing with it, was just curious as to what the problem could be.

Hi Leelee ,
The symptoms seem to be more of Costochondritis . Costochondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum. The condition causes localized chest pain that you can reproduce by pushing on the cartilage in the front of your ribcage. The pain is aggravated by deep breathing , yawning or any movement involving the muscles .  Costochondritis is a relatively harmless condition and usually goes away without treatment. But I would recommend that you consult a cardiologist and get an ECG and other  recommended investigations done to rule out  a cardiac cause of the chest pain . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
