Temperature

by JanaBanana612, Oct 26, 2009 11:20AM
I'm a teacher and we have had so much sickness going around our school.  I've become sick and have a question about when I should return.  My body temperature typically runs at 96.3.  For the past 3 days my temperature has run around 99.9.  Some nurses tell me this isn't considered a temp then others say it is.  Can someone please clarify for me?

Im not a nurse or a doctor; but from my experience I would say you have an elevated temperature; but not a "fever" per say.
A fever is generally considered to be 100.5 degrees or higher.

If your temperature climbs to 101 or higher then I would definitly stay home untill the temp has returned to be below 100*; without the use of medecines.

BUT that being said; it also depends on how you are feeling; do you have chills? body aches? cough? congestion?
If you have chills associated with the elevated temperature then Id say you have a fever.. only becasue your normal is so low already.

Keep track of the temperature and how you are feeling; if you get to feeling really bad, stay home and rest.
If you get sick and keep trying to push yourself to work you will only make it harder on your body to fight the illness; and make your recouperation time much longer.
Hope that helps you out some!!

I do have all the symptoms, achy, I have a cough, sore throat, chills then sweating, my head fills so blown up, my ears hurt and itch:(  and it doesn't seem that much helps with the symptoms:(  My sinuses hurt as well.  I'm prone for sinus infection but this feels different........

If you go to flu.gov it says you do not have to have fever to have H1N1. They have had quite a few cases with no fever.  I had the regular seasonal flu about a month ago at 31 weeks pregnant and my temp was only 99.5, but I just didn't feel good so went to the doctor and got tested.
I really hope you feel better soon.
