I understand about be healthy forever. Even though I was always a heavy weight, I have never been an ill sort of a person.
My surgeon was asking about it and when I said this was the first thing he kind of laughed and said "and then I get a hold of you and look what happens" I still have my tonsils for crying out loud....but no thyroid.
I hope things continue going well for you. It sounds as though you have a great start. Good luck and don't hesitate to throw out a question if you have them. The folks out here have been a life saver for me.
Thanks for the response. I'm now 3 weeks past and feeling much better. Still fuzzy off and on during the day but it's not as bad as it was. I was in pretty good shape before the surgery but I had lost a lot of weight and that hasn't helped things. I'm now able to do 1 mile on my stationary bike (1/2 mile in the am and 1/2 mile in the pm). I'm walking as much as I can and try to go up and down my stairs as often as I can during the day. My levels are in the normal range. They will be checked again in another 2 weeks. Started driving on my own last week. The supermarket was a little overwhelming but at least I was out! I'm such a type A personality and have not had any major sickness in my life (I'm almost 55) that the time and patience part of this whole process is terribly difficult. Getting information from those of you who have dealt with this is invaluable. Thank you
It took me a good 6 weeks before I felt tops and I still tired easily. But I was feeling a lot better. If you're someone who eats right and excercises a lot, I'd think you'd get a long a bit better....I'm middleaged...overweight....and more of a couch potato... : )
Unfortunately some of it gets taken out of your hands until you get your meds right. But if you talk to some of the veterans out here...it just takes time...patience...and learn the things that works for you...It may not work for someone else.
