Aching Arms, Legs and Chest

I have been on Levothyroxine for a few months now, and feel better as far as energy goes. Had Hashi's and thyroid cancer. I am now experiencing alot of pain in my arms, legs, and chest. Anyone have this? If so, what did you do to alleviate the symptoms?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you so much for the info. It's nice to know that this is unfortunately a normal instance. It is so darn hard to find a good endo, or doctor for that matter. (Sorry to any doc's my experience) I was wondering about that whole T3 thing. I am due for complete labs here soon. Maybe I can post them, and get some opinions on my levels.

Thanks for the help much appreciated!

I still have all of my thyroid, but I was on just T4 for ten years with increasing muscle pain, it was really bad.

I decided to find a doctor that would prescribe something besides T4. After 5 days with T3 (cytomel) added to my daily T4 the pain started to diminish. Shortly after that I changed to dessicated and feel even better. Cyto gives some people never ending headaches.

Some people feel better with additional T3, even If their lab #'s don't support T3 supplementation. T3 can be odd that way.

Magnesium helps me to a little.

Did you see this post from Stella?  Does this relate to your aches and pains?

Sore muscles is usually the hypo symptom of of a depletion of magnesium. Being hypo for so long eats aways the magnesium and the muscles become inflammed.

Ironically when this symptom develops it is one of the last symptoms to go away - AFTER - becoming optimal with the right amount of FT3 hormone getting in for a while.

It's maddening to have constant pain - so you are not complaining. Its very frustrating to have this go one and one and not see an end.

You express a common issue with some about taking in a T4 medication and not getting relief of the problems associated with hypothyroidism, That is why the Free T3 is so important to tweek. a low FT3 indicated a problem still is there and your doctor can look at T3 meds to correct that lab.
