Am i the only one who either forgets to take med's or can't remember if i took them or not??

I have noticed very recently that i at times forget to take my thyroid med that i normally take at 7am and then one hr later, my blood pressure med's.

On Saturday, i forgot to take my Synthroid before leaving the house and when i remembered, i was too far away so i took it later on in the afternoon. Today, I took it earlier than normal because i had to eat before leaving out and now i can't remember if i took my pressure med's earlier, so i took them (hopefully not again)..

What type of methods do you use to remember to take med's or to not double up unknowlingly??? It's becoming very frustraing to me that i can't remember. I don't like to miss taking the synthroid because it's very important but because of my thyroid issue, my bp crept up and i don't like to miss those either..Oh, and forget about the vitamin pills!!!!!

My thyroxin comes in foil strips as here in Australia, we have to keep ours in the fridge.
I cut a small piece of foil off the strip (used one) and fold it in half and have it beside my bed. When I see the foil strip..it reminds me to take my T4 med. THEN I put the foil bit in the pill container I have so that during the day, I look in the pill container and it reminds me I HAVE taken the thyroxine.
If the strip ISNT there, I know I havent taken it.
I dont double up the next day or I get massive hyper symptoms but divide the dose up to take over the next 3 days (so basically I take 75mcg instead of the 62.5mcg for 3 days) .
That seems to do the trick.
The T4 med is calculated WEEKLY and not really daily so if you miss...you may get a few aches and even out the 'missed dose' over a few days but I usually know I havent taken mine as I am "sluggish ' by mid afternoon.

If you forget a dose, take it the next day along with the usual dose. As thyroxine (the thyroid hormone) has a half life of a week, it really doesn't matter if you miss a day. But do double up the next.
Alarms of any kind work for lots of people. Personally I just take mine the minute I wake up....oh, that is as I am dancing on one leg to go have a peeeeeeeee! Hee hee.

I take mine at 5:30am every morning, regardless if where I am at. I have set my alarm to 5:30am (my clock has two alram settings), I always have my pill & bottle water on my night stand. When the alarm goes off I take the pill with a sip of water & go back to bed. For me it helps me with the hassel of when I can eat. When I am away I use my cell phone alarm to get up & always put a cup of water right beside the area I am sleeping in along with my little pill. It works for me.

Now my husband takes it when he gets up for the day (he has weird work hours), so he can't use my method, and sometimes it messes him when when it comes to when he can eat or not.

I tried those little pill cases but all of my vitamins don't fit in them!  Are there bigger ones somewhere that you can buy? My magnesium pill is at least 2 inches long!

I have the same issue with my Prilosec. My doc wants me to take it an hour before dinner. I see it sitting there everyday and wonder "did I take it?" "Should I take another one just in case?"  What to do, what to do.....

I was horrible at remembering meds (and still am!!!!)  anyway, what I do is set the reminder on my mobile phone, not turn the alarm tone off until the tablet is down and then I put a little tick next to the date on the calandar.

Mobile alarm tone goes off at the same time every morning (7am) and wakes me up and reminds me it is time to take the medication and a tick means it is officially taken.  If I ever have one of those moments where you think "have I taken it or have I not"...I look at the calandar.  The tick means "Yes Natalie, you've taken your meds".

it seems to work well for me...I hope you find a way that works for you!! :)

I was terrible with meds prior to my TT so I was quite concerned about remembering to take my synthroid daily.   I got one of those little pill cases with the days printed on the top.   I keep it next to my alarm clock with a bottle of water.   That way it's physically right there as soon as I wake up with water to take it with.   I always make sure to take the correct day and then I leave the lid up on the day I've taken.  I fill it every Sunday nite and start over again.   It was the only way I was able to make sure I took my Synthroid every day at around the same time.   For my other pill which I have to take an hour later I have the same type of case and I keep it next to my coffee maker.   That way when I'm ready to eat it's right there.   I bring both cases with me when I travel and just make sure I take the correct days in order.   It's a pain but I've finally gotten the hang of it.

If you get up at a certain time every day, take your thyroid med IMMEDIATELY....If you must take your bp med an hour later, you will either have to get up early enough to accommodate this or carry the bp med with you to take later....

I get up at 3:00 am, take my levo, shower, dry my hair, get dressed, take my bp med(s), eat breakfast (around 4:00 am) and leave the house at 4:15 am.  I carry a pill case with me that has my second dose of thyroid med (T3) that I take between 7:00 - 8:00 am.  I set the alarm on my cell phone for this.

I also have to take calcium and other vitamins later in the day (around noon) -- another cell phone alarm.  Another dose of calcium in the evening -- another cell phone alarm.

All of these things are in my pill case, which has sections for am/pm.  I may not always get the vitamins/minerals on time, even though they are doctor prescribed; but I will never forget those meds that sustain my life -- thyroid and blood pressure.......

Hi there,

All I can suggest, and what I do, is to set a reminder on your mobile phone.
Seems to work!
