I assume that was a Total T4 test.  If so, what is the reference range for it, as shown on the lab report?

Even though TSH is a pituitary hormone that is inadequate as a diagnostic, when the level is that high, it is a fairly good indication of hypothyroidism, and consistent with symptoms you mentioned.

I think you need to go back and request to be tested for the biologically active thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4 (not the same as Total T3 and Total T4), along with TSH.  If the doctor resists you should insist on it and don't take no for an answer.  Also would be a good idea to be tested for Vitamin A, D, B12, zinc, iron/ferritin, and selenium.

If you are able to get those tests done, when results are available, then please get a copy and post results and their reference ranges and members will be glad to help interpret and advise further.

What has your doctor said about the ANA test results and your thyroid test results?

My t4 is 13.9 and tsh is 15.29. I have had alot of symptomes. Thought i had a muscles sickness cause i had muscle weakness, moody, spasms, cramps, tiredness, no appatite but gaining weight, heart beats that arent normal, and i can go on. So the Neurn did my thyroid fuctions and 7 muscle sickness tetst. And those were the results. I didnt use any medication the past 3 months. B4 that only trepiline and after that a stronger pil 4 ppl that has epilepsie. Thats all. I am not taking any birth controll meds. I have to add, my aunt has lupus for almost 20 years now.

An ANA panel is run to check for the autoimmune disease Lupus. HOWEVER!  There are several drugs that can give you a possible false-positive result, including the birth control pill and several anti-biotics.  Tell your doctor if you are taking either of these, and if you are, you can take yourself off these drugs for a couple of months and be retested. This happened to me, the PA told me I definately had Lupus, I did the research and was on both birth control and had just taken a series of anti-biotics as well.  I eventually took the test again, and no Lupus.

Please post the thyroid test result that was "way under".  Also, why were you being tested for thyroid?  Are you having any of the 26 typical hypothyroid symptoms listed in this link?
