I agree with Stella too.
I was misdiagnosed Fibro ..only to find it was hypo.
Once the levels stablisied, the muscle aches and pains left.
There is a blood test that you can get to check for Fibro.
Mine come back negative.
I agree with Stella...I think what is often diagnosed as fibro is often thyroid. In fact, I often wonder is fibro is a real disease...thyroid is usually the culprit.
I have seen alot suggesting fib patients have been diagnosed with a thyroid condition and T3 is often used in the treatment of fib. Dont ask where I have read all over the place just things I have seem to seen alot.
I myself have suffered from excrusiating (sp?) pain in my lower back since after having my kids but now that I know what I know now about the TSH norm being changed looking back on my old test results I should have been treated sooner!!! Makes me really mad that because they say up to 5 is norm I have suffered really bad and really been as good as of a mom as I could have the last 6 years. I am still having alot of joint pains not to the "right" levels yet I guess I really hope that it eventually gets better that and the hair loss..well actually there are alot of things that I hope get better.
I really think the health care system needs to change they only treat symptoms not the actual problem and it is not right. Like a doc once told me fib is a name they use when they can't find anything wrong with you...But as we all know if they would look in the right place alot of people would be alot better off.
I think all the people who go to the doctor with unexplained pains, fatigue, should have the tests needed to rule out thyroid, parathyroid, and pituatory problems.
We need to compile a listing of tests to request I have been trying to make a list from reading others posts to try and make sure I get everything checked but I am not sure of them all.
Hi - I agree with you.............I did not have too many problems with Fibro like symptons
till my FT3 level got lower. Now I am having a struggle to get the proper treatment
it has been a real "pain" Mine seem to get to my gluts and legs and tighten up and
burn some on & off some days not too bad - but I never had it like this till I tested
low on T3, My neuro gave me some sample Lyrica - but that stuff has alot of side
effects after reading all of them it blew me away............any suggestions in the
meantime while I am waiting for the right supplement for T3? thanks, Carla
Personally I see Fibro and hypothyroidism as one. In my thyroid history, when I was extremely low - my joints ached terribly. Now that my levels are up I no longer suffer the dibilitating joint ached I used to.
I really think they should look at Fibro issues being more of a connection with endocrine disorders in general.
Inflammation
My doctor checks my sugar levels with my other tests every year as he said there is a high chance of developing sugar diabetes once your immune system has attact your thyroid...pancreas can be next in line..have had hashimoto's for 15yrs now but developed fibromyalgia and it can be very debilatating, so am just living in hope i don't develop anything else then it will be a bonus... think live each day as it comes as it is so changeable!!!!!

Once you have one autoimmune disease, you are much more likely to get others. Obviously, our immune systems are in overdrive. As far as I can tell, we develop other problems as we age no matter what we do! It ain't pretty...
