Hi,

I too am intrigued, googled, and found this:

http://www.labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/vitamin_d/test.html

I googled high vitamin d level in blood

anyway, I saw other good things too when googling, such as vitamin D protecting women from breast cancer, and lowering MS risk.  I was curious because two of my parathyroids were removed along with my thyroid in May, and I'm now on Vit. D supplements.  I'm not sure how long I'll have to take them.  I'll ask again when I see the endo.

Good luck!

The only thing that comes to my mind is a defect in Vit D metabolism because vit D is a prohormone (activated in liver and kidney and other tissues). It is important to check phosphatemia too (P04). This is just theory, really I'm curious, good luck with your ENDo, we will be waiting for you.

No, I really don't even take a Calcium supplement.  Every once in a while I will take a Tums but that is maybe 3 or 4 times a week.  I had those levels checked even before I started taking a good multi-vitamin.  The levels were extremely high but high enough for me to wonder why???  My Vitamin D level was 69.80 on a scale of 15.9 - 52.6.  I will definitely let everyone one WHEN I get into the endo.  Thanks for your repsonses.

When you get an explanation from the dr, can you share it here?  I'm curious.

Your query prompted me to search it but, like you, I didn’t find anything.  Everything was about high dosing.  That’s not what you’re talking about.  Hum.

Good luck.

Yeah, the calcium was actually on the low side of normal.  It was 8.7 and the range was 8.5  -  10.6.  So I don't know.  I tried to google it and can't find anything about it and haven't been back to the doc yet to see what it means.

Geez - skeet

High vitD could be associated with calcium levels.

Did you have calcium checked too?
