Pre-Op bloodwork on Friday morning. First appt. with the ENT surgeon next Monday morning @ 8:30 a.m.
Found my clone........George Clooney. Ah, I'm kidding. It's Brad Pitt.......yeah, right.
Cheryl, I messed up your post idea, didn't I?
Start one again, I'll behave myself.
I would be a rich woman indeed if I could do that ... I will keep you all informed!

If you come across a cloning service (that would make a younger, healthier, better-looking, smarter version of ourselves) - let us *all* know! :-)
Tell me more about your "word retrieval issues". I often have trouble remembering the word I am trying to say when I'm talking to someone, but have no troubles with it when writing, for some reason. My current job involves working with lots of high-speed, low-drag folks and I often find myself struggling to get my thoughts out to them. I have previously put this down to just feeling self-conscious around these really smart people, but in the wee bit of reading I've done on hypothyroid in recent days I've begun to wonder if there might be a connection.
I hate this problem of my halting speech -- I know it frustrates people I'm trying to talk with and I also think they must think I'm a moron -- which reinforces the self-consciousness. Drat.
Anyway, my most recent bloodwork (earlier this month) showed a TSH of 11.75! In the past it's *always* been less than 5. I think it was around 8 or so when I was diagnosed hypothyroid, so it's never been as high as it is now. My endo recently changed my diagnosis to Hashimoto's, and told me my TPO AB is positive -- but he didn't say what the number is.
Tomorrow morning I am having a fasting blood draw -- I think to check blood calcium levels and also do a more detailed antibody study. The confounding issue is I am in the military and am moving to a new job at the end of Feb. I just met with my endo last week and found out about the high TSH and Hashi's, so in the midst of all the craziness of moving I now also have to get the thyroid issue back under control.
Does anybody know a reliable cloning service?? (^_^)
Thanks to all of you for being here. I've never been very concerned about my thyroid but the drastic change in my numbers kind of has me freaking out a little bit (in addition to the stress of the move) -- so it's nice to be able to chat with you guys about this.
All the best to all of you.

Good to get all the paperwork and carry it with you .. this I am doing with my daughter and her recent gallbladder surgery as we need to followup with a brand new GI group bcz the one in the hosp is out of network grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Welcome to the board .. on the synthroid ? it takes a full 6 weeks to build up but you can always call your Doc and ask for a TSH draw ... it may be too high a dosing but you will know and then can figure it out from there .. usually they will do a simple TSH w/o a problem but some stick to their guns and make you wait the full 6 weeks!
I get anxiety and word retrieval issues when dosing is too high. I am on 88mcgs for supression and TSH is 1.5 at last draw .. below 1.0 is not good for me .. good for the Cancer but not for me.
My surg was a yr ago .. 2 small encapsulated no lymph nodes involved were found .. orig nodules were benign. Still have a 3mm STABLE nodule on other side that we do ultrasounds ev. 6 mos and so far so good.
c~
The 29th is almost here .... praying that nasty spot is merely tinfoil in the brain in a very benign way :::::::hugs:::::, C~
Getting in to see an ENT on 29 January to try to get a biopsy. See if that nasty spot in my head is metastases. Wah-freak'n-ho. :-)
I leave for MD Anderson Cancer Center on 1/29/08 for a consultation Re: thyroid cancer and treatment! I know they will be doing various labs, CXR, and ultrasound. I have all my labs/xrays/ultraounds/path slides from Bx and surgerys for them to review from the past 2 years. I will keep you posted on the out-come. I will be taking a lap top computer with me to keep ya'all informed!
