Hi all! I am new here and so glad I found this community. Any advice will be much appreciated.
I was diagnosed with Hashmitos around eight years ago and have been taking 75 mcg a day since. Around three years ago, my general physician sent me foe an ultrasound due to her noticing that my thyroid was larger on one side. The results came back that it was enlarged but that we would just watch it.
Flash forward to now, I have noticed that my throat feels thicker and some trouble sometimes getting a good breath. Every once in a while I will be talking and my voice will go raspy. Also randomly I get a sore throat that will last a couple of hours then go away. My family doctor checked my blood work and said my levels were normal but that she would order a ultrasound.
These were the results:
"The thyroid is greatly enlarged and heterogeneous. The right lobe measures 6.3 cm in length and 2.4 cm in short axis width. The left lobe is also enlarged at 6.4 cm x 2.4cm. The gland is diffusers heterogenous and irregular. The isthmus is thickened at 7mm. There is a solid nodule in the isthmus at 9 x 6 mm. Another lesion in the right superior thyroid is echo genie and measures 6x6 mm. Multiple neck lymph nodes are noted bilaterally."
After these results, my doc has ordered for a thyroid uptake scan which will be two weeks away. ( I had to be off synth road for four weeks before exam).
Has anyone had a situation like this? Please advise if surgery is likely. Because I have hashimotos won't my nodule appear cold? Also, is a nodule and a lesion the same thing?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Best,
Sarah
