Have you ever had your doctor say you're all better but really don't feel 100% yet?

Has anyone else had a situation where they supposedly recovered or resolved the thyroid issue in the doctor's eyes, but they still did not feel well for awhile after? How long until you felt better?

--------------

I was diagnosed August 1, 2010 with silent thyroiditis.

My stats are:

08/01/10 TSH 0.03

08/09/10 TSH 0.01

09/23/10 TSH 0.41

10/28/10 TSH 1.36 -- T4 0.96

12/6/10 TSH 3.80 -- T4 0.92

I went to get the TSH tested because I've felt unwell and it was 0.99.

I just heard back from a doctor that: "Looks like your thyroid is recovering from the thyroiditis. The TSH does not always go significantly high in these cases. So would interpret your TSH trend as good recovery at this point."

Ok, so I am supposed to feel all better now? I really do not. I still feel anxiety and I cannot do much cardiovascularly. Has anyone else had a situation where they supposedly recovered in the doctor's eyes, but they still did not feel well for awhile after? How long until you felt better?

Readyforwhat: I too have been told that I am better even though I don't feel better. I had half of my thyroid removed and the doc told me that I would be better after that. NOT! Like Terri has said, I still have hair loss, palps, panic, dry skin, pain everywhere, headache, and the weight...ugh. The sad part is that I'm not even hypo! I don't know what in the world is going on with me. All the luck to you with solving the mystery. Take care.

This is confusing. Thyroiditis, can be a confusing term its too general as there is hypothyroid, Haashimoto hypothyroid and Graves.

We are all on the same forum here.

Do you have Hashimoto or Graves antibodies? Readers need this info.

You (your doc) needs to test and monitor Free t3. This is the most important hormone more than TSH, bottom line, not just my opinion. Read other posts on this.

Your TSH was very low, some might be hyper that low. Your TSH is going up toward hypo.

Yes, I have been seeing an endocrinologist and he diagnosed my silent thyroiditis.  I have had an ultrasound and he said that there were a few nodules but that it was nothing problematic and they were small.

Was it your primary doctor or an endocrinologist that diagnosed you with thyroiditis? Did he/she do an ultrasound of your thyroid area?
