My Endo likes to keep me in the dark, too.
LOL!!
My guess is if you stay on the same dose your numbers will be different in another month. Your TSH will probably be lower. Your Free T4...who knows.
You should try to get your blood drawn early in the day before you take your Synthroid, if you can. Your T4 will be elevated aproximately 20% for about four hours after you take your pill. Your TSH will not be affected, though.
If afternoons work better, do that. The main thing is to be consistant in when your blood is drawn, as best you can.
thanks.. also .. in time will the numbers change..even without an increase ? or does it level out and stay at the same level.. thanks for info.. and yes endo wasn't that informative.. Kevin
First, five weeks is not long enough to get an acurate test reading.
Your Free T4 is at the top of the range. If you increase your med, you will go hyper. The TSH result hints that your Free T3 may be low, as Laura said.
Also, thyroid recovery takes time. You will not feel well as soon as you are on the correct dose of medication. Some of the symptoms will hang on a while.
Your Metoprol may be making you feel a little sluggish as well.
Lastly, your Endo seems to have a rather relaxed attitude about the whole thing. Unless you heard all of this in the exam room, the doctor is not giving you enough information.
would an increase in syntriod lower this numbers .. my endo said it wouldn 't matter anyway in how i feel.
Your TSH still has room for improvement, but your Free T4 is on the high end of normal. I would ask for a Free T3 to see where that level is since your T4 is high normal.
